(Twitter)   Apparently Steve Bannon's "Wellness Warrior Defense Pack" sold to prevent and treat COVID-19 is more of a "DOJ-21 and FTC-21 Complaint Pack". Operators are standing by   (twitter.com) divider line

The trick is to sell it in buckets. People snarf that stuff up and it's legit as can be.

Ok, what about the stupidly overpriced iodine? There's, apparently, a market for iodine in the Red Hat shriek-o-sphere. But only the most pure iodine. Guaranteed.

Why not Quinine too? These people will buy anything, after all.

I mean, I guess it has worked for Alex Jones somehow, but who could possibly look at Steve Bannon and think "this is a guy I should listen to for advice on what to put in my body"? Unless they want scotch and cocaine.

Apropos of nothing, Steve Bannon branded bum wine could actually be a marketing success.

When you see the flash, paint your hand with the iodine. You will absorb enough that your body won't absorb the radioactive isotopes and you won't die from thyroid cancer.

Look it up

Oh, Bannon drinks Quinine.  In the form of tonic water, with serious buttloads of gin to make it drinkable.  All day long.

Give the man some credit.  He ate it, held it down, and was able to keep talking afterwards.  That takes some gumption.

Hell, if C. Montgomery Burns would have been able to do the same thing, he'd have been governor.

Me, before reading this thread: god dammit am I going to have to talk about iodine.

iheartscotch: Ok, what about the stupidly overpriced iodine? There's, apparently, a market for iodine in the Red Hat shriek-o-sphere. But only the most pure iodine. Guaranteed.

GOD DAMMIT.

Okay we're farking talking about iodine.

DON'T TAKE IODINE SUPPLEMENTS UNLESS SPECIFICALLY DIRECTED BY FIELD EXPERTS.

The window for effectiveness for iodine pills to work is counted in hours! HOURS! You need to know the plume is coming, know where it is, and precisely time when you take the pill versus when it will hit! Because your thyroid won't hold onto that flood for very long, it will flush it, so you need to time your thyroid being loaded with the exact time you might be breathing radioactive iodine.

This is some fairly exacting math that requires precise information of the event that caused the plume, the air currents, and so on, and thus forth.

And a nonzero number of the population is unknowingly reactive to iodine supplements and you won't know until you take them and end up in ER!

/also the supplement market is not regulated at all, thanks Amway!

Not that anything about Jim Bakker is NOT offensive, but his "Dear God" especially bothers me.

I am entirely nonreligious, raised without any mention of it. And yet I avoid using "God" casually, for the sake of those who care about using the Lord's name in vain.

If I care enough, why doesn't the guy who made a career out of being a loud "Christian"?

The only thing I care about being pure is my coke.  Which is why I prefer Mexican coke, it has real can sugar instead of HFCS.

The government handed out iodine in the fallout area of Fukishima. We were juuuuuust outside it, and they were very strict. No one outside a very specific radius needed it, and even then, those on the outskirts weren't exactly required to take it.

Maybe it's a decent soup? A reasonable potato soup isn't that hard.

It's Bakker, so I automatically don't believe him, but it could be okay.

Oh, so this is why my conservative acquaintances have been telling me America needs to drop masks and vaccines in favor of vitamin D and zinc.

If I am ever tempted at all to think that conservatives are honest about anything, I just remind myself about this sort of thing.

Seriously, what's with rightwingers and selling "wellness products"?

Is it part of the thing to move the wellness community from hippyland to the right?

Is it that they know their listeners are so dumb that they'll buy anything?

Is it both?

Go check out any big name right wing pundit that had a podcast or YouTube channel and they have their own line of vitamins.

It's nuts.

Brain force Plus!

Made out if soy!

But the left are soyboys because they eat soy products... sometimes?

I'm surprised the average idiot on the right remembers to breathe.
