The more airtime you give this asshole, the more nazis we're going to get. Fscker Carlson breathes only by spreading absolute toxicity under the laughable guise of 'entertainment'.

The problem is most of his audience are too stupid, too easily programmed, and Cucker Tarlson here is delighting in doing so. It's like letting a cancer spread.

No one better to take on "The Elites" than the white son of an ambassador and heir to a fortune who attended the finest prep schools and Trinity College.

I'm good with making hate speech unprotected. Even a strong test would implicate some of the shiat he says.

This is not a popular stance. I also used to be first amendment rights no matter what. But then some German friends explained to me in detail what happens when you protect hate speech, and changed my mind. I'd actually prefer to learn from their experience rather than have to repeat their mistake.

That he gets his audience to buy into his supposed disdain for elites and support for them does not make him smart, as TFA seems to imply. It just mean his viewers are dumb as fark.

This guy has been a twat for years but now that Trump is gone, I can't help but wonder why he is continuing down this road.  Is it just to reap viewership and ratings from the Q folks (even though he is Trust Fund baby)?  That seems less likely to me than the possibility that he banged some of Epstein's girls and there is Kompromat on him.

False paradox is false.

2021-04-19 11:28:40 AM
It's not farking 'brilliant.'   Logical fallacies, as a list, don't exist to win arguments by citing them.  That's actually the fallacy fallacy.  They exist as a list because they work.  They're shortcuts to human beings' hard wired biases, and it takes work to avoid using them if you're interested in intellectual honesty.

If you're not interested in honesty, that doesn't make you brilliant, any more than sitting down and eating a quart of ice cream rather than going for a jog makes you motivated.  You're just rewarding your farking monkey brain.

Lumpy = Rush
Tuck = that guy what murdered someone back in 1990 (SFW, I promise)

Lumpy's been on the scene too long; you don't even need a punchline when you bring up that useless whining wuss. Tuck is a bit more unknown to the Not Extremely Online (and non-Fox) crowd.

He uses big words. It's a throwback to the "thinking man's conservatism" from the 1980s, which contrasts with the more brash, angry conservatism of the late Rush Limbaugh (praise be upon him) or the conspiratorial, manic conservatism of Glenn Beck. The difference in the modern world is that rather than claim to be "the elite" as the bearers of American culture, instead the populist tone takes effect, where it's "the elites are against us!"

I'm unaware of any definition of sophistication his show falls under. I guess it's because he has a television show and wears a suit, but damn if that man isn't part of a VERY exclusive club of men who weirdly can't pull off a outfit whose basic design has been around for CENTURIES and whose only purpose is to bestow an air of class upon the wearer.

Dude has all the familial wealth a person can yet looks like he found the last suit in the Sears clearance rack

Carlson has been a billionaire since he was 10.  How is that not 'elite'?  Shame the people who watch him are too stupid to think about that.

2021-04-19 11:37:51 AM
Jon Oliver on his recent segment on Tucker made the point that White Nationalists watched Carlson's show twice every night.

Once for "entertainment"

Second time they took notes on how to soft sell their bigotry.

Fox has perfected their white grievance rhetoric to a science by this point.

Carlson is their number one guy.

None of that is coincidence.

It is a false paradox because it is predicated on a misunderstanding of tolerance.

Tolerance does not require you to accept everyone. It does not remove the ability to defend ones self. Tolerance only requires that you live and let live with those that agree to live and let live.

If the opposing side says, "we get to live and you get wiped off the map." That is already and immediately in conflict with the trust foundation of live and let live.

Basically tolerance is the ability to withstand the unpleasant, not to stomach the toxic.

More like it's a seeming paradox. A true paradox is unresolvable. This situation is just counter intuitive that maximizing tolerance requires not practicing unlimited tolerance. But it's solvable.

It's like investing. If you invest more you make more. Maximum returns suggest 100% investment but in practice you starve so don't go all in. Same deal.
