Hey, Will Smith turned down the Matrix for Wild wild West so he should,,,,yeah he really should have committed suicide long ago. But he's still rich and I'm not.

But I didn't turn down The Matrix for Wild, Wild West. Not that it was offered to me but still.

anyone into the mandolorian doesn't remember the wild wild west.
they are watching Matlock in the locked oldtimer's ward.
and they don't remember who matlock is, either.

/I watched w.w.w. when they showed on T.N.T. on satuday mornings with my dad when cartoons where reruns in the early 90's

Perhaps for the better.   I don't think Will Smith would convey "post-apocalyptic hacker" very well.   Too much aloof wisecracking, usually.

Well yeah, people rip on Keanu Reeves a lot (I just watched Dracula yesterday, yikes) but he was good in the Matrix. His character starts out as a clueless idiot and Keanu has that down pat. I just meant it wasn't a wise career choice. But WWW wasn't a total crapfest, nothing with Salma Hayek can be completely bad.

Fark you.

Fark the whole mindset that says no one can be interested in anything that happened outside their own lifespan.

I was alive and very much into the Wild Wild West when Bob Conrad and Ross Martin were out there having fun.  I still occasionally watch it online or in reruns.

Guess what?  I'm into the Mandalorian, and the Expanse, and The Boys, and many other new productions.  I also read, you know, *old* stuff - from before I was even born!

Like Arthur Conan Doyle.  And Robert Louis Stevenson.  And Agatha Christie.  And many other classics.

And for the record, Matlock sucks.  Never watched a single episode, but bits and clips I've run across told me it was nothing I was interested in.  I'll stick to Perry Mason and Nero Wolfe, thanks.

Salvage I was kinda fun, in a goofy 'how-bad-is-the-science-this-week' way.

Sorry about the previous - I should have toned that down some; I wasn't intending it as an attack on you.

But the narrow attitude that people can't like things outside their own time tends to set me off.  Call it a weakness.

We have the entire past to enjoy, and such of the future as we can imagine.  How boring to wear blinders and only partake of the here and now!

Huh. I didn't realize each episode only aired one time, and that the show was never viewable again in syndication... Guess I only imagined watching it on WGN when I was younger.

I think one of the worst things to come out of Wild Wild West (the film) wasn't the film itself, but how hesitant its failure seemed to make the studios about the steampunk genre. I don't remember any significant steampunk films between it and Mortal Engines, and even that is more post-apocalyptic in terms of genre.

/really enjoying The Nevers so far

Disney Atlantis counts....possibly League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. But otherwise you are correct.

Doctor Megalito Loveless was my favorite villain in that show.  I was a child when it was in first run and I said to myself: "I don't think they wore pants that tight in the West".  But loved Jim Wests's gadgets.
