I want to create guidelines on how to put Facebook to death.

I love their new ads... Such a happy, wonderful company.

"We at Facebook encourage new legislation..."

Without any realistic competition, FB is a very dangerous entity.

Eh, nobody I hang out with is on FB anymore. All the peckerwoods that fled to Parler came back. Their standard feed page is wretched and will suddenly toss up a post from a neighbor or someone that's 5 days old and they totally didn't show me it when it was posted.

It's kinda just the place I post pictures of my kids so all the relatives can see them now. It's not worth using to connect with people because I'll text you or call you.

I also click 'I hate this' on every ad they show me. Which is now about 75% of the feed.

Facebook sucks ass.

Who is going to want to compete with FB?  I only use it because me and my other half-century clique have given up on chasing the platforms that have moved on.  I have a cousin six years younger who can't comprehend using anything older than Discord.  FB is Sears.  Now granted, lots of MAGAt's shop at this particular Sears, but there are precious few new big-ass department stores rising to replace them.  FB probably needs a good slapping, but it isn't actually an anti-trust violation to be the last buggy-whip maker.

No one, that's the problem. There really is nothing that can compete. At this point, forcing them to sell IG and WhatsApp wouldn't even do that much but inconvenience them. They are the Goldman Sachs of the Tech world, tentacles in everything.

I've found that a 1/2" drill bit works quite nicely for putting a server to death.  It's best to unplug the server first.

How about "people should be smart enough to migrate their own data"

Facebook was a thing once. Now they're desperately trying to hang on by forcing everyone to use them. Like demanding power plants use coal instead of cheaper, less polluting materials. Or lobbying for obstacles that only the competition has to avoid.

Google will last a very long time because it is adaptable and creates its own advancements. It keep inventing the future.

Facebook is more of an old financial institution which only knows how to buy up the competition. It isn't interested in anything beside data collection and selling and would greatly prefer you just hand it over right now and stop your squirming.

Painfully and slowly are my two requirements.

Let's start some Agile development and put our open source ideas on GitHub!

The few almost decent competitors they had almost get started have had the Alt-right Neo-Confederates types take them over.

I would be slightly interested to see if somehow facebook is driving that process to make any competitor look even worse by comparison.

If you don't let them have access to the contact list in your phone, there's always that.
