They're your assh*les. Don't support them if you're so worried. It's not that hard a decision.

I'm sure you can stuff your cute little genie right back in the bottle.

You shrank your party and now you're upset that you're just left with fascists?

Republicans, answer this question:

Whta do you want your politicians to believe? And what do you want them to do with power?

McConnell wants nothing but to stack the courts. He could care less about anything else. What do you want from the government?

Tax cuts and no EPA, right, we know that, but until you can give an answer that anybody on your side actually cares about, the only thing you have to run on are people who can gin up hatred over [shakes 8-ball] trans people, it seems like today. And you can't fake it as well as the true believers, so you'll only end up with the crazy until you have something better to offer. What is it?

So basically all of them.

Y'all fed the monster until it took over, now you can't control it, and you'll all die if you can't feed it.

In other words, you made the bed, now lie on it.

They'll still vote for them.

This has been going on since they gave validity to the Tea Party assholes.

So now that the party is going full fascist, they can't just play stupid anymore.

They won with Trump so maybe they should just lean into it.

Are they having doubts about being able to select who gets to vote?

Greitens will likely win.  Missouri has gone way harder into the "culture war"/"anti-urban" trend than you think.  Basically everywhere outside of Columbia, STL, and KCMO is blood red, and they farking hate all "those people" in the cities.

You forgot their planks of:
- Outlawing abortion
- Busting unions
- Dismantling public education
- Making all firearms off-the-shelf purchases
- Consolidating businesses and industries to decrease competition and increase consumer prices

When you put it all together, it's a pretty solid platform. It's pure evil and spitefulness, but very solid.

Yep. But that's not always enough to win.

They'll continue to lose more purple states and the deep red states will continue to double down.

America's crazy will get distilled into a horrifically toxic brew that may be a powerless minority, but might still kill us all.

67% of Missourians rejected Greiten's attempt to put RTW in place. There are a quarter milliion union members there. 100 of 115 counties shot down RTW. A third of republicans shot down RTW.

Get an economic populist/pro-labor candidate in the race.

Unite the minority vote with the labor vote and get back in the fight.

You chose a party platform of "fight everyone on everything," now live with the consequences you fascist dipwads.

If you are really concerned, maybe you could give serious consideration to helping pass the jobs and infrastructure bill and the voting rights bill which are both widely popular.

We know you won't though; you're Lucy holding the football but you're not even trying to fake a position worth compromising with.

Oh. And bring up Greitens is a rapist.

Critical thinking is discouraged, outrage is encouraged, and the bad ideas are spreading in the party ranks. Naturally the bigots and wackadoos are taking leadership positions.

The base republican voter wants these loonies.  They have been conditioned by years of propaganda and lies. The GOP spent decades turning its base into a rabid mob. This keeps throwing up this crazy ass sects, the tea party and Qanon.  The GOP can't back down or comprise. The gop base of loonies was ready to lynch a republican Vice President for following the constitution.

There isn't a grand plan or anything, it's just a bunch of grifters, true believers, opportunists and dupes all running in the same direction, anyone who tries to slow down or turn back will get trampled.

neither the hosts or the callers on columbia's white power radio station seem to care for greitens anymore.
i'm not saying they won't still vote for him, tho.

"Trump in heels".  Is that why he was tipped forward these last couple of years?

2021-04-19 12:29:19 PM
The lure of picking up the 30% "base" by being a total nutbag and getting on the board as a serious candidate right away, winning yoru primary and stomping out any more reasonable Republicans is just too great. What you do after that to actually win hasn't been figured out yet.  You can't do the last minute slide to the middle or you will lose the "base". So you end up with candidates that just want to grift as much fame and money from the initial run that can't win in most areas.

I mean, 2012 was a year when Democrats were certain to lose the Senate except they sent a bunch of idiots who couldn't shut up about how if a woman gets pregnant it proves it wasn't really a rape.

I don't think that's the direction the Dems will take.  They seem more likely to try a Mccaskill-style candidate again.  Hopefully I'm wrong.

As far as referendums go, I'm not sold that votes for popular referendums translates into anything more than that single vote.  Look at all the farkery going on right now with the statehouse and the referendums that were passed.  And then tell me you think any of those legislators will lose their seats.

Yeah, they'll probably run someone like McCaskill again.

Oh I agree completely. This is where the democrats need to focus though in the Midwest/South.

There has to be a way to tie the two together. FL went 65% for $15 min/wage. Missouri shot down RTW by 67%.
OK passed Medicaid Expansion, then shot down the attempt to pay for it using a tobacco settlement fund by 60%.

Honestly I say run Ozzie Smith as a progressive, pro-labor, pro-Baseball candidate. Let the Cardinals fan tell Hawley to STFU about attacking baseball.

Or Yadier Molina. First Senator with neck tatoos.
