I have a feeling this is a guy who has misconstrued pity laughs received from friends, family and co-workers as actual comedic talent and unfortunately convinced himself that what YouTube really needs is another Joe Schmoe, everyday, next door neighbor guy to point out commonalities and absurdities in pop culture.

Wow, nobody's ever pointed out any of that stuff before. Cutting edge, really. No, not just cutting edge. This is the bleeding edge of creative talent. The. Bleeding. Edge.

"What's the deal with these standup comedians?"

Standups doing jokes about standups.  We are through the looking glass of meta now.

He hasn't seen James Acaster - who is brilliant by the way.

He missed the part where people genuinely laugh at the fact that they are funny.

It's not like standups haven't been mocking other standups for years as it is. This is like meta of meta, and not done well.

Yeah, sure, but that was about HBO Comedy Specials. We're talking Netflix standup comedy specials now which are like, you know, totally different, and way cooler because they're, you know, the newest thing.

Mark Normand should get a Netflix special.  He's been killing it during pandemic.

"Killing during the pandemic" is kind of an unfortunate turn of phrase, though.

I was about to say the same thing about most stand up comics.

Starting to think that comedy in general is a lost art form.

I guess I'm supposed to not want to watch these things now, but more than anything I just want to watch the full "Wisconsin turtle" set. Like I know that there isn't one, that those fake bits were just there to illustrate his observations (which would have been funny if he wasn't using the dour cynic bs as his framing device), but I still want to see it.

I would like to point out that this is what every American standup is like...which is why they are rubbish.

Judging by the speech pattern, I'm thinking he watched Nate Bargatze's specials back-to-back and thought "it's the same guy every time!"

Apparently Anthony Jeselnik is doing it all wrong on his Netflix special, he substituted a lot of the YouTuber's list of nuances with the uncomfortable laughing of the audience who cannot believe they are finding dark and disturbing funny.

/with most of my other favorite comedians dead, I am left with Jeselnik and Lewis Black to laugh at, I am good with that.

Stand up comedy acts these days are just TED talks by intentional imbeciles.

Guy makes a video that is basically a live action Fark comment, so I'm wildly unsurprised that Farkers hate it.

Almost all comics are ISFJ's.

That's why they all sound and act alike.

You can really tell when someone isn't. Their routine will look completely different.

Those that aren't ISFJ's.

Dave Chappelle, Eddie Izzard, Bill Maher, Bert Kreicher, Neal Brennan..

Those that are would fill up this list to much, but here goes a few,

Bill Burr, Tom Segura, Louis CK, Chris Rock, Darnelle Rollins, Bill Envall, Dana Gould, almost all of the Legion of Skanks, Patrice O'Neal, Brian Regan, Brody Stevens, J.B. Smoove, Rich Vos, Jim Bruer, Bryan Callen.

It's why you could switch out almost all of the acts of the ISFJ's the only difference being their personal life experiences, but the non-ISFJ comedians listed above you couldn't imagine Bill Maher doing Chappelle's set or Bert Kreicher doing Neal Brennan's set.

Once you see it, you can't unsee it.

Jerry Seinfeld should have his picture next to ISFJ in the dictionary.
