VelcroFez: They already all tell you all they care about is views

And views = money therefore all they care about is money.

If, tonight, every blue-collar and rural Republican voter went to bed and woke up tomorrow politically far left of Bernie Sanders, by the time two weeks pass Fox News would be portraying Democrats as capitalist pigs, Tuckkker would be calling for socialized health care, and Fox and Friends would be borderline televised gay sex acts, as they try to chase the money.

Make it unprofitable for the right wing to push their bullshiat and once their money bins start getting empty they will shut up and crawl back under their rocks.

I try to avoid negative YouTube channels, even when they're not openly political.

'Ratings for this TV show are tanking!  Viewers are staying away in droves!'  That gets a Don't Recommend click.

Ms. Southern described the situation differently. "We asked the question because we knew it was going to force people to question their own political views and realize the contradiction in being a hard-core feminist but also supporting a religion that, quite frankly, has questionable practices around women," she said.

She is talking about the Christians, right? It sure looks like it to me.

There's a lot of anti-feminism/anti-LGBT channels masquerading as entertainment and video game coverage.

Astroturf for bigots, essentially.

I wish they were exactly that hypocritical and/or grasping for money. Then their followers would, at some point, realize how tenuous the bond between audience and Fox News is, and they would be freed from any feelings of obligations to listen to their chatter as though it was some kind of command. Once they stopped identifying with Fox, they could leave it alone. And, as a bonus, they might realize how predictable they are because Fo could predict their thoughts so easily. Someone that predictable should be worried that they are not worldly enough. If someone mirrors the world, they will react to all kinds of new or unforeseen circumstances. If someone can be mirrored by Tucker farking Carlson's shallow diatribes, then they are not being realistic.

Alas, I think that Fox News really is committed to fascist power. And so, their authoritarian audience identifies with them, for good reasons they can see themselves in Tucker's rhetoric.

99% of videos could be summed up in one or two well written paragraphs that would take a minute to read.

If you transcribe some of what is being said, you would stop reading, or cry out "This is so much BS, GET TO THE POINT"  But a video turns off part of your brain that does critical thinking and you are left vulnerable to the ideas

"Hey watch this video, it makes some good points"

is basically "Here is something that confirms my bias"

rarely can anyone articulate the points being made cause they do not make sense

YouTube will not stop advertising Shapiro to me.  I'm Canadian and have never clicked on any right-wing political content of any kind.
I keep flagging the ads as offensive, spam or misleading.  They keep showing up.

Here's the thing

The right wing in industrialized western nations has reduced itself to something that only exists to gain more power and continue its own existence. It has no ideological core.

If anything it *actively* chooses the most harmful position possible, because the actual helpful policies would destabilize it's power. In governance making sure resources help people stops those resources from going into right wing coffers and spheres of influence.

The cruelty is the point. There is no ideology beyond the sick sadistic glee of crushing someone's windpipe with the heel of your boot. Literally nothing else. That's the only driving force they peddle to the people who will still vote for them.

The only people that can be convinced to vote for these ghouls are idiots and insecure fools who can only achieve orgasm when they know some n-word is getting shot by a cop. They have no morals beyond spite and anger but they can identify when a solution would *help* people and they won't stand for it.

The right wing sphere and the authoritarians who vote for Republicans could never advocate for a "left" policy because it simply wouldn't make sense to them. Something that works? Something that doesn't harm? That threatens their put upon image of self victimization.

Watch one video about WWII history and the algorithm immediately starts feeding you white supremacist videos.   It's fundamentally farked up.

it will even feed you videos of channels you've blocked for hateful content.  That's how farking stupid the YouTube algorithm is.

Meanwhile, the google search engine can practically read my mind without serving up any racism.

I'm not sure they're separate algorithms.  I was googling a certain Iced Earth song for a recent thread, without using YouTube, and now YouTube is recommending more Iced Earth songs.  Mostly newer ones that I didn't like anyway.

I know somebody who runs a moderately popular YouTube Channel about UFOs and alien conspiracies.  It's a fairy harmless niche as far as conspiracy stuff goes, but they've told me exactly this.

Someone mentioned Cahokia in a fark thread last week. I had never heard of it before so I looked it up. They are these giant square-shaped mounds in Illinois, clearly evidence that a large city was once there about a thousand years ago, 500 years before Columbus would arrive. So I watched a few YouTube archeological videos on it, very fact-based and non-speculative about the Mississippean civilization that once lived there. I found the subject fascinating to dive into for a half hour, and then I moved on.

Ever since then my YouTube feed keeps filling up with nonsense about the Anunnaki, Zecharia Sitchen/Erich von Daniken, that crazy-haired Greek guy, and other ancient aliens bullshiat. Why? I'm not interested in that crap. How does YouTube interpret "You like history? Here's some fake history!" thinking I would want it?

It isn't harmless. Spend any amount of time in the conspiracy niche and it all leads back to the same thing. Different heads of the same hydra.
