Nothing screams Patriarchy more than brainwashing girls into believing only childbirth will give any meaning to their existence.  Creepy.

Weird question, but is fertility treaty good for the species? Doesn't it literally award biological traits that are literally self preventing? Wouldn't it bred additional dependency on medical assistance? Are these problem genetic or circumstantial

Why Americans lack adequate access to fertility treatments

Because it's healthcare and we prefer not to do that?

What the hell are we supposed to do about it, socialize medicine? That's dirty commie talk of a better world!

You're offspring with no passed down accumulated wealth and zero gig economy skills will die on a filthy flophouse floor, and you'll farking like it.

Good. Third world nations like ours don't need to be having more kids until we can adequately take care of the ones we have.

The most important traits are those connected with our big-ass brains and I don't think there is any correlation between infertility and lower intelligence. That is, treatable infertility doesn't really matter as a genetic trait so long as we are smart enough to treat it.

Because anything connected to the US medical system is going to cost a fortune?

My ex and I stopped trying after the drugs to increase her egg count wiped out our meager savings with no results. We were up to using someone else's eggs and were looking at $20k for a "batch" or $10k for a half batch. With no guarantees they would take. Money we did not have.

She's pretty much my ex because of that. Because the crushing grief that caused her slowly killed the person I married, and replaced her with someone who couldn't stand the sight of me.

Yup. It's *literally* a self-correcting problem called "Natural Selection". Something somewhere in their DNA is farked. By combining the two messed up reproductive genomes, good luck having grandkids.

This pathetic obsession with having "your own" kid and going through what, by all accounts, is 9 months of solid torture....while millions of kids bounce around the foster system

Maybe you asshats should take a farking clue and realize that even if you can create your own crotchspawn, you would make the world a slightly better place by adopting a kid who needs a home

Just operation warp speed maturation pods or tubes.  Problem solved.

Then just have a bunch of genetic combinations  in the que.  Need smart people?  Put them in the tubes and mature them.  Need warriors?  Put the strong genes in the tube, and also extra growth hormones etc...  Need workers, use the strong genes, and make them more efficient per calorie.  And make them compliant so they take orders well.

Problem solved.

DNRTFA but that also happens with couples who wait to have kids until they're "financially stable" in their late '30s / early '40s.

Stabbing is illegal.  Also by being violent over logical words, she or ze is showing that she or ze is not a suitable candidate for taking care of a child.  Adopted or biologically hers or zirs.

It would be best if all non engineered humans refrained from breeding and that we put all our technological effort towards creating bio engineered children in tanks so that only the needed humans are produces (according to the government) and the one that are produced are more carbon efficient, and more compliant towards government orders.

Fear the Clam: Good thing we're a nation of immigrants, then. Just invite a few more in and we're good.

According to the data, when immigrants come from low carbon usage countries into the US, or other high carbon usage countries, they start to use more carbon.  Not as much as a native born citizen, but more than if they stayed in the low carbon usage zones.

And increased carbon usage is bad.

Is it ok to ask about the causes of infertility? Sperm counts are reported to be declining. If I ask about this, will it -gasp- turn me into an environmentalist? I have seen reports of feminization of fish and amphibians also believed to be secondary to pollution.

A declining birthrate for a while would be a good thing... except we've madly built our entire economic system on eternal growth and don't care about the obvious inevitable outcome of an ever-increasing population.  For now we prop up the less-than-replacement birthrate with immigration.  Eventually the government will start funding fertility treatment.

What we REALLY need to do is some good old socialism to make it far, far more economically viable to have kids in your 20s, work on massive reduction of fertility-inhibiting environmental pollution, and modify our economic system so it no longer operates like a cancer but can support our society with zero population growth - or even a slow decline for a few generations.

This is obviously what needs to be done, but it's different from the status quo and would be expensive, so of course nobody's interested in doing it.

Also, scary tag subby? Really? We could use a bit of a population drop.
