In the 80os today.  I know.  Usually get a week or so of decent weather in May, then back to overcast until July or so.

According to my spiffy web app, it is absolutely spring time.  That's all I need to know.

May really mess with my apple trees. I hope they can hold off blossoming until after the cold snap. Last year they got wrecked.

April snow is completely normal here. We got 6" of tree-wrecker accumulation overnight on Thursday.

Same same, northwest ohio.  The last few years it seems like the apple trees blossom, then we get two days of cold and wind that kills the blossoms before the get pollinated.

Yep.  Was 32 here last night in my neck of the woods in Ohio.  I live close to akron

Spring is 3+ weeks early this year (rural Eastern Ontario)

My data:  First lawn mowing of the year.
2019, May 12
2020, May 10
2021, April 18 (going out later today to do it).....

Also partial leaves out, Daffodils and Tulips in bloom.... weeks sooner than normal....

Snow on Wednesday will probably slide north and west of me....  But hard frost Wed. night....

That's probably going to be an effect of climate change -- the only two seasons will be winter and summer, pretty much.  Say goodbye to spring and autumn.

Well it is still April, so let's wait and see about what things are like in May.

Welcome to Georgia.  Spring is a week of everything turning yellow from pollen, then the outside oven get set to 100+ until about October.  Where it is nice for about 10 days. Bonus: you don't know if it will be 80 or 38 when you are selecting your Halloween outfit.

I seriously miss the middle seasons of spring and fall from growing up in Maryland.  where they last for the season and really do their things.

I enjoyed playing on Lake Erie, when the refrozen ice was a bunch of little jagged 10 foot high mountains.  I enjoyed watching snowflakes in mid May.    No one suggested traveling a little and warming up on the banks of the glowing Cuyahoga as it burned.

Almost the same here.  Leaves are already poking out on the trees, 2 weeks ahead of schedule.  But the grass isn't really green...probably because we've had a wicked dry winter.  January was D.R.Y., for example.  We maybe got 3" of snow (and no rain).  They're worried about another drought up here in northern Maine.

Awesome. I live less than a mile from lake Erie. This surely won't impact me at all.

Handy to remember that "global" does not equate to "your present location"

Meanwhile, we had a Red Flag Warning last week for critical fire conditions. In northwest Oregon. In April.

We've f*cked up and we're only just beginning to find out.

You almost make Seattle sound livable. Here, Spring is busting out all over. My whole garden is in fierce blooming stage, as I planted last month. Lucky you, you get to ride when you mow. I'm jealous.

Yeah, Tuesday afternoon is going to be straw and cardboard time.  One pepper plant is going to have to get covered with a bucket.

Fortunately my garden is in a nice sheltered nook that gets good sun, so the ground should be considerably warmer than 32F.

Hot, windy, bone dry, scorching sun or as we know it in Oregon: First fire season.  It was freezing last week.

2021-04-18 1:19:13 PM
Yep. April usually has 1-2 snow storms as winter tries to hang on. I've been prepping the garden all weekend. I might try to plant some of the cold-hardy plants like beets, kale, turnips, etc. this week. I was debating adding strawberries but I'm going to wait until at least next weekend due to the cold snap.

Oh I'm temping fate - just got done putting the snow blowers (yes, plural) away for the season and got the lawn mower up and running.  I'm sure next week I'll be whining about 6" of snow or worse.
