Trump was wrong again...shocking!

Imagine how much they'd get if they had more than one non-corrupt act to their names!

I've always wondered if there's been an appreciable impact to other campaigns when someone takes in all these outside donations.

Major problem: outside donors can't vote for you. Ask Jamie Harrison and Sarah Gideon how far their spectacular fundraising got them.

They mentioned this on Stephanopoulos a moment ago. Apparently the amount raised was more than someone (?) expected, but MTG outraised Cheney (also mentioned in link). Neither source mentions their previous hauls, so I have no idea if this is good, bad, or both.

THIS.

It's votes, not fundraising, that win campaigns.  Fundraising helps you advertise.  But in the current polarized political climate, there's a much smaller sliver of people you have the opportunity to convince.  And the ones on the right also know better than to telegraph how much they love evil.

I'll be interested to see the inevitable analysis on historical trends in campaign ad buys vs votes swayed.

I'd bet that Trump supporters would rather give money to Trump than someone who supports Trump, and that's why we're seeing a difference

Seem to be hearing about "record level donations" a lot lately.  Read a few stories about Trumps "double opt out" style recurring donations, where if you give him five bucks once, it's in the fine print that it's going to be recurring.  I doubt his was the only campaign to shamelessly squeeze money out of people who don't read the fine print.

I'm still not entirely convinced either of them lost legitimately. The polling is typically on point and those two results were wildly different from what the polling showed.

There are enough reasons to explain the polling failures, mostly the Trump effect and Q-crazy idiots refusing to talk to 'deep state media' (or whatever the worms in their brains whisper to them) but the burden of proof cuts both ways: there has been no evidence found of statistically significant voter fraud in any direction, other than what we already know about: voter suppression, dirty tricks, and lies.  Sadly, those are 'legal.'

The most likable narrative is that the 'establishment' republicans cheated themselves into office and cheated Trump out, but that's simply not realistic based on the evidence at hand.  By all accounts, the 2020 elections were as clean as we can get.

No other campaigns rode the line of illegality to the extent that the Trump campaign did. Three percent of all credit card fraud during the end of the campaign/post campaign period was from Trump's fundraising efforts.

Over all, the Trump operation refunded 10.7 percent of the money it raised on WinRed in 2020; the Biden operation's refund rate on ActBlue, the parallel Democratic online donation-processing platform, was 2.2 percent, federal records show.

The problem with bending over backwards for the dimmest of your constituents is that most of those people aren't ever going to be big contributors to your campaign. Here in AZ, Andy Biggs has fallen so far behind in raising money that he's going to have his ass handed to him, and I can only hope that Gosar and Lesko are in the same boat.

Oh, that would just be farking beautiful!  Most of the 2022 GOP donations go to Trump instead of actual campaigns, then he sends it to Russia so they don't cut Eric's head off to make a point.  Kist tje ,pst

True, people talk about polling failures in POTUS races in 2016 and 2020, but all of the surprises were within the error bars.

Bwuh? Why would someone vote in a way that put his life at risk? Do you mean like driving to the polling place without a seatbelt or like being a cow and voting for hamburgers in school lunches?

My guess is that Trump already fleeced his cult for every penny they have and now they're back to trying to find a party store that will let them buy beer with food stamps again.

Meanwhile, the old school big biz gang who still have money are still placing bets.
