Morning everybody. Anybody else up for this? Europe, maybe?

2021-04-17 7:37:21 AM
I am awake (somewhat). And that Neverton-JoMo's Spurs result yesterday... why was I not surprised at all?

Spurs are still going to find a way to finish below Arsenal, aren't they?

With the sparkling choice of matches available today other than the FA Cup match, this place will probably be a ghost town.

If things keep on going this way, yes... and it might well be a fight to avoid the bottom 10, and one of those two teams will lose that fight.

Yellow card for Shelvey? Inconceivable!

I am waiting for him and Soucek to get into a scuffle.

Am I the only one who things that Saint-Maximin sounds like a superhero name?

You keep using that word.

I don't even know how to describe what just happened.

Let's see if any of the pros managed ...

2021-04-17 8:09:22 AM
Dawson sent off and an OG conceded.  Ouch.  That's rough on the Hammers.

2021-04-17 8:10:06 AM
West Ham going old-school this morning, I see

2021-04-17 8:10:23 AM
OMG that was total clownshoes by West Ham.

Saint-Maximin had completely blown the chance, the WH defender bundled it in anyway, and along the way Dawson got himself sent off for a second yellow trying to recover the mistake that started it all.

2021-04-17 8:10:43 AM
Saint-Maximin forces West of Ham into the own goal.
And a second yellow for Dawson to get sent off.
1-0

That looked like something you see 10 year olds do on a Saturday morning.

The Guardian:

GOAL! Newcastle 1-0 West Ham (Diop og)
Premier League: It's a double-whammy for West Ham, who go a goal behind and lose Craig Dawson to a red card.

that's the best of them.  didn't really capture the flustercluck

Chimpy McSquirrel: Saint-Maximin forces West of Ham into the own goal.

I'm not sure if "forces" is being more generous to Saint-Maximin or WH there.

Chimpy McSquirrel: And a second yellow for Dawson to get sent off.

I guess that's what happens when you get yourself booked after just 12 minutes.

Newcastle with another gift of a goal. It's like Christmas morning.

2021-04-17 8:14:52 AM
More clown shoes from West of Ham.
Fabianski drops the ball on a corner kick.
Joelinton says thank you very much.
2-0

2021-04-17 8:14:56 AM
Guardian followed up with a clinical post mortem instead of bringing the funnay:

Already on a yellow card, Dawson lunges in on Saint-Maximin on the halfway line. The Newcastle man stays on his feet and keeps going, as Kevin Freind plays advantage. ASM jinks his way into the penalty area and unleashes a low diagonal effort. The ball is saved by Fabianski but cannons off the legs of Diop and rolls over the line. Insult is added to injury, when Friend produces a second yellow followed by a red for Dawson for his foul in the build-up. Remarkably, that's the first dismissal of his career.

Why am I surprised that the Hammers didn't concede there?

Twitter seems to be malfunctioning so I cannot check Lineker's take.

Or tweet my very funny reactions to my audience of no one.

2021-04-17 8:17:40 AM
I know some WHAM fans.

I'd rub it in, but this is not a year for Spurs supporters to crow.

What are we? Bloody Arsenal?

huh, I had a sip of whiskey left in my glass from last night

that goes into the tea

The NBCSN broadcast has so far featured ads for Maker's Mark and Jack Daniels.

Apparently, Farkers make up a substantial fraction of the audience.

I will say it is nice to have such an exciting match to see from Newcastle at o'dark thirty PDT, and I'm almost glad my insomnia let me witness the calamity that he Irons have caused themselves.

I've also seen ads for Corona and the Kentucky Derby (sponsored by Woodford Reserve), so yeah.  I think they want me day drinking before dawn has even broken.

At this rate, Newcastle is going to be laughing at Full of ham as Newcastle sprints away from the drop zone.

I have beer coming from my local grocery store, but the earliest delivery window I could get was 11AM :(.

Sheffield United can be officially relegated today if they lose, so it's getting to the point of teams getting all of the points they can to avoid relegation.

2021-04-17 8:51:42 AM
Newcastle are showing why they are where they are. With 10 men and playing poorly, West Ham are still making them look second-best.

2021-04-17 8:52:41 AM
I would support a change to the laws to forbid short corners, just to protect teams from their own stupidity.

If you start drinking before dawn, is it really day drinking, or is it still late night drinking?

/morning all

The Hammers still believe they can win, and Newcastle are seemingly trying to let them back into this.

Rumor has it that Man Utd want Lingard back at the end of the season. I can sort of understand why, but where would they play him?

I had no reason to drink before dawn until I started supporting Arsenal.
