There are stumbling blocks: the availability of water, the maintenance of the orchards, the potential for undergrowth to burn.

Yeah, those.  And all the rats, possums, etc. that will find excellent breeding grounds and food sources so that their populations can explode right up against neighborhoods.  Also keeping in mind that one of the primary ways that fire spreads in Southern California is when winds blow embers right over freeways and firebreaks and land in new spots to burn.  Bananas aren't going to stop that any better than firebreaks would.

But Raghavan is blunt. "It's like, well, nothing else is working. We've got to try some crazy things.

So your point is, "What we have isn't working so let's dump tons of resources into something profoundly stupid that we already know would fail and probably create more problems that we already have."  This guy is ripe for a career in politics.

California will have an overabundance of banana leaves. Combine that with the overabundance of wild hogs in Texas and the southeast.

What do you get?

Puerco Pebil by the tons! Arizona and New Mexico as re going to eat good.

Yeah, this is stupid. The reason we're having wildfires is because it's so dry. If you want to water a shiatton of plants how about the ones that already grow here.

When I worked for Porsche I called the Panamera wagons "Panabananaramas". When the salesmen would complain, I'd pause and fire back "I've got it. Yeah baby, I've got it."

I think California communities should surround themselves with coral and kelp to prevent fires. In all of recorded history, there has never been a fire in a coral or kelp plantation.
