Buy a new phone, now with faster charging that your old charger doesn't support. But for an extra $40 we will sell you the charger that we would have included, of course it will be packaged and shipped separately.

Look how innovative we are by removing features!  Have a bunch of iPod-compatible plugs/docks?  F*ck you!  Here's a lightning cable!  Have a 3/8" headphone jack device like every audiophile?  F*ck you! Buy our bluetooth shiat!   Buying a new iPhone and don't have a charger? F*ck you!  We're raising the price, taking away features, and pretending like we're innovating!

Jesus.  The next iPhone won't even include an iPhone.  $1200 for an empty box, iPhone sold separately.

It still comes with the cord, just no block. It was still an annoying decision.

Where the hell have you been Subby? Apple stopped including an AC adapter with the iPhone 12 family last fall. Also, incidentally, Apple still includes a Lightning cable if you really one.

I have somehow accumulated four iPhone chargers and, like, I've owned exactly one iPhone. HTF did I do that?!

The Lightning connector was introduced in 2012. Got any newer things to whine about? The lowest-priced iPhone 12 is $699. For older models, prices start at $399. Got any facts in your head at all?

Does this include the cost for every customer to buy three incredibly inefficient inductive chargers?

I have an 11 Pro and a handful of wireless chargers, and I'm wondering why I ever bothered.  The two in the house are really picky about where the phone is placed on it.  It's never a simple plop-and-forget process.  The one on my nightstand will start charging but then randomly quit after a few minutes, leaving me a low battery in the morning.  The one built into my car is pretty reliable, but since I often plug in a lightning cable to do CarPlay, it sits frequently unused.

The only thing I assume justifies the hassle is that I'm saving wear and tear on the lightning port.  I've fouling of the power supply pins on the lightning cables I can't straighten out without replacing the whole thing.

I bought two chargers for $10 yesterday after applying some coupon codes on Amazon. They are GaN chargers, so they are way smaller than the 18W chargers Apple put in the box with the iPhone 11 Pro.

With previous generation iPhones, I never used the included chargers because they were weak 1A pieces of crap that charged my phone very slow. I always used a 2.4A third party charger with those or a wireless charger.

I won't really miss the Apple chargers because they were always disappointing in one way or another.

Ehh, Anker cables are better made. They're saving the world by making you buy a better cable, because it's hard to make anything worse than the Apple cables.

If you're buying Apple products in the first place you get what you deserve.

What brand did you get? I highly recommend Samsung's wireless chargers. They are well made and they tend to have a good set of coils that is much less fussy than the cheap Target brand one I use for my headphones.

Of many things you can take Apple to task for this is one of the worst.  Not only are their cables over priced, they break very easily.

This happened like 6 months ago. Pretty sure there was an Apple-hate thread about it then, too.

Anker is awesome. Very affordable, and it outclassed the charger that came with my Pixel, which died.

Five years ago, Anker cables were top-notch.  Now they're crap.  I haven't bought one in the last four years which last more than six months.  And by "last" I mean it charges my phone.  If I want to backup or upgrade my phone's OS, I use an Apple cord.  It's bullshiat either way, but it is what it is.

This.
They talk about the environment. needing 3X the power to charge a phone doesn't help the environment.

Wasn't this Steve Jobs' legacy? Part it out and itemize and charge for every little thing? I'm genuinely asking, correct me if I'm wrong please.

Which was lifted from Bill Gates. A community of nerds sharing software and ideas for nothing until Gates shows up.

My new Samsung didn't come with a charger either. Going on Amazon to get one I saw that thousands of other people are doing the same thing so clearly this isn't saving any chargers from being made just saving the phone manufacturers from having to supply them.

Except that when I buy a new phone and it doesn't come with a charger, I'll just use one of the few I already have. That is one charger that doesn't need to be produced. Scale that up to a few million people a year who buy a new phone, and you're getting decent environmental benefits from this policy.

In other news, apple and its sit at home stock owners needs you to buy their newest phone.  Badly

Otherwise their stock owners might have to get jobs.

Meanwhile, they are still building in obsolescence to render older models useless and force consumers to purchase new phones - which, of course, aren't compatible with any of the chargers you already own.

I always considered Apple stock price and product sales figures as an indicator of how stupid society is at a given point.  Needless to say, society is very stupid.
