Whenever a business laments "We can't find good labor," note that it never dawns on them that, just maybe, they're not offering enough compensation to do the job. Because, y'know, labor rates react to market forces as well. It's not just prices.

Victimhood, culture war and fear are all that the Repubs have left. Once people see that social programs have a definite value and that Repubs are full of shiat...we may form that more perfect union that the Founders talked about.

You just need to know that nobody wants to work a minimum wage job for someone actively trying to kill them

I've always wondered about how this worked.

I know there was a Twitter bot net using combinations of specific hashtags like #KAG, #MAGA, #2A, #WWG1WGA, #TrumpTrain, this emoji -> ✝, and this emoji -> 🚂

to amplify seed accounts through retweeting.

I reported 100's of them.  I did manage to nail a seed account spreading hate speech, Twitter notified me of that report leading to a successful ban.

It's pretty telling that these "It's Econ 101, dummies" people who fully understand that limited supply increases price cannot at all figure out that a lack of interest in your position means you have to offer more money. Somehow supply and demand is just not supposed to apply to the labor market. Weird.

The part I don't get about the American narrative is that you always have lousy, slothful, lazy employees, but never the owners / "job creators". If you self-nominate yourself to be a "job creator", you can do no wrong. You're not going out of business because you suck at running a business, it's always some terrible external entity taking you down. That's 0.1% tax hike is just impossible to navigate, even though you're a self-assessed business god, because you're a job creator. Never mind about the quality of said jobs. What matters is that you're instantly superior, and nobody will question you.

That's a middleman. A cutout in the rat chain of origination to dissemination.

You can ban thousands of those without an appreciable impact.

And 15 minutes of work from twitter would identity and ban all of them..........

The other thing, as I said last night, is the bizarre notion that immigrants drive down wages by accepting lower wages for the same work. Because it's the WORKERS who force wages, not the employer. Somehow, if a worker comes in and says "I'll do this job for $10, even though it's posted at $20," the employer has no choice but to accept it. Hasn't it ever occurred to anyone how impossibly weird that sounds?

There needs to be a Law that dictates that the value of a job is inversely proportional to how much it's currently being worked.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT MACHINE HAS BEEN DOWN FOR TWO HOURS?! DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH THAT IS COSTING US?! ...The best we can do is minimum wage, I'm sorry but this isn't a big deal."

In my perfect world, there would be a balance of differing (and "offensive"/controversial) opinions, rather than resorting to cherry picking random tweets that preach to the choir.

What "context"? It's the kind of random shiat that I think of when I shower, that doesn't mean that it's interesting to anyone else on the planet. It's a lame attempt at being edgy, and Fark usually demands better. Or at least they used to, now it's all just a bunch of tweets. This just happens to be the most useless thing I've seen in quite awhile.

But at least you think it's "cool", so I guess it would be wrong to rain on your parade, lest you get your feelings hurt, so carry on with your context if it makes you happy, I guess...

Low pay AND a demand for flexibility in scheduling.

Can't work on Tuesdays before 10am? Denied. There might be a point in the future where they totes legit need you for that opening, despite every morning having 2 people on site. Give all your time to corporate or you're not a team player.

Cool story: When I worked retail, my manager was the best boss I had. She tried to keep times fixed for everyone, every week. It helped so much to have known times you could go to an interview or run errands or just sleep in peace. It made an $8.50 an hour job tolerable because she gave a crap. She knew retail wasn't forever and respected it. When I left for a full time big boy job, I gave her 2 weeks written notice and trained my replacement to my standards.
