Hmmmm , The woman approved by the donors keeping said laws on the books because they have studies that say it is less productive is our great hope?
The same woman that jailed many people for marijuana while letting rich crooks like Mnuchin live free and make a killing in the Trump administration. Yeah, I will pass on what she has to say.
I am sure Mike Bloomberg gives her a glowing referral.

Decriminalize all drugs. But in order to do that, you need to implement universal healthcare. Get on it already. It's 2021. It is a travesty that we still don't have this.

its got to be the dumbest slow walk of all time as far as I am concerned

Deep pocket industry looking for champions and 70% of the country is for it.

No lets dick around and allow the GOP more time to make inroads in the industry and get donors

not to mention the criminal justice reform and all the other no brainer stuff that goes with it

"We need to study it more". I'm sure that's the issue, not enough data.

Just tell the booze and pharma industry they can grow the shiat themselves and sell it. Tell the cops and prison industry to suck a dick.

Police unions seem really, really against legalizing cannabis/decriminalizing drugs. I can't imagine why.

Also, they have deep pockets.

I wonder who else benefits from drugs being illegal. Whoever they are, I bet they've written a whole lotta checks over the past century.

I would have thought she was the best bet due to her sponsoring the MORE Act of 2019 in the Senate (died on McConnell's desk) and as a result having her try to bend the ear of Biden to approve it should it cross his desk.

As a senator, Harris was the sponsor of the Senate version of the MORE Act, which would have removed cannabis from the list of scheduled substances under the Controlled Substances Act and would have eliminated criminal penalties for growing, selling or possession of it.

#1 Rule

If you imprison many minorities for marijuana even while later you admit to smoking it and then let rich white men remain free after abuse of poorer Americans, you might want to shut the hell up and get out of the way.

Law Enforcement Against Prohibition is a counter group that is on record as marijuana enforcement basically being too easy.  A guy on crack is unpredictable, the stoner is likely to not put up much of a fight.  And the extension is that they aren't in a position to cause society harm while stoned at home, or while possessing, and not worth the enforcement effort.

They have a new name and have removed this type of argument from their official policy positions, but I'm sure they are still talking about it behind the scenes.

This is all it takes. This is it. Harris can write it up and have Biden sign it. They won't do this, of course. Gotta keep those drug cartels making money private prisons running.

good point, but they are not supposed to be the folks who have the ear of democrats.

But as far as the police are concerned. I would imagine they spend a lot of time on drugs, and since cannabis users make up the largest pool of potential arrests they dont want to give up their cash cow.

Where the politicians are happy to lose the revenue from the police if they make up for it in cannabis taxes.

Good. We work too hard for far too little money in this country. Killing productivity and giving people giggle fits would do a load of good for many, many, many pent-up tightasses.

I don't care if she can or can't do anything to legalize it now that she's Veep, I'd still like to spend about 5 hours stoned out of my gourd with her in a kick-ass kitchen cooking shiat.  I don't know her, but I know her.  She has kitchen skills and some tricks and some recipes I'd like to look into.

That was only as a minority party Senator. In 2016, as Attorney General, she refused to support California's legalization bill and, as prosecutor in SF, she oversaw hundred of prosecutions and dozens of prison sentences.

Let me know if she did anything else.

The liquor and tobacco lobbyists have large checkbooks. They don't like competition. Free market and all that.
I have dealt with a lot of angry drunks, and unpredictable people that are on other substances. Stoners, as a rule, just want you to leave them alone, turn up the music, and pass the Doritos. It never should have been Schedule 1, and shouldn't be now.
