I only read the first four graphic novels some time ago, but I remember the stories were pretty straightforward. Did later issues go branch into side plots that would warrant a spinoff like in the Sandman comic?

I guess, even though I really enjoy the show, it's not like they haven't strayed far afield from the comics as it stands.

The main show has a lot of sex , gore and machismo and horrible decisions.
The company asked how they can triple that kind of content and someone said "supes in college".

Not really. Ultimately the main comic should have ended sooner than did as well. Needed an editor.

Think we found the plot of this one....

The appeal of The Boys is that the Supes are totally corrupt and only in it for themselves, which is far more believable than that Justice League crap.   This just sounds like an excuse to have horny college students stabbing each other in the back like any other teen drama.  The only difference is they can fly.

Pass.

The longer it goes on, the more annoyed I get with some of the characters. Particularly Hughie, character makes a lot of stupid decisions and the actor just irritates the hell out of me. The other one is Starlight. This woman is supposed to have superpowers RIGHT? Yet she gets a beatdown every other episode. I mean what da fuq?

I liked the show the first time, when it was funnier, finished in 90 minutes, and called Mystery Men.

So it's a sequel to Sky High?

They are ending The Expanse too early in my opinion, but expanding this?

The original comic book series had Hughie infiltrating Vought's Teen Titans / Generation-X kbock-off.

It was basically a disturbing version if the guys in Animal House had superpowers and used them for date rape and orgies.

Seeing how they gave us the scene below, I think they can pull this or anything else off and look forward to it.

She can only use her powers when there's an electrical source is around. She usually loses when that's not available, or she's fighting a stronger supe.

I haven't finished the books yet, but it's my understanding there's a major time jump after the end of what will be season 6, and that would cause problems filming the series. I do hope they give season 6 a bigger budget than the last 2 seasons.

Which is always it seems, I shouldn't be feeling sorry for a freaking supe. Yet here I am, watching her get beaten to a pulp, or getting harassed, and/or bullied. She doesn't even stand up for herself most times. She's a supervictim.
Not entertaining to me.

Mystery Men, Sky High, Meh. Yup, I got nothing left to add.

So I'll add, I like The Boys, but don't love it. We're 20 years past "what if heroes had super powers, but regular human morality and personalities" being an innovation. Not interested in a spin off.

Will continue to listen to the Mystery Men podcast

This sounds like something that would be spun off on the CW hitting for the teen-young adult crowd.

I loved the comic, enjoyed the show immensely, and would be anxious to give any spinoffs a shot.

/I'll show myself out.

How could you be so right and so wrong?

The premise was the payoff. It was a movie that mocked super-heroes. How many of those happened before it dumped a box office turd?

So an R-rated "My Hero Academia"?

Worth a watch.
