(YouTube)   I have no idea what you're talking about, so here's a kickass cabaret version of 'The Final Countdown'   (youtube.com) divider line

Both Gundhild Carling and Scott Bradlee have been doing pretty decent YouTube streams since quarantine began.  Gunhild plays jazz standards with her kids (and others) and Scott takes piano requests live.

They're both worth checking out.

Gob was upset that this was the act before him at the Gothic Castle.  Well, not "The Gothic Castle", but you know what I meant.

Gunhild is amazing.   Sing, dance, play a billion instruments (including 3 trumpets at the same time!), and look good at the same time!

I saw the headline and thought "I bet it's not better than Gunhild's PMJ version...". Guess I was right, in a way. There have been so many good artists PMJ has turned me onto. Had tickets to my second PMJ live show that was at the start of the whole shiatshow last year. Can't wait until they get back on the road.

She used to play with her dad's family band. Now it's hers. She's great. There's one where she plays (semi-) decent jazz on multiple instruments. And simultaneously, iirc, on brass. Her tap dancing is dreadful, but she loves to clown around with it.

This is still the best version of that song; better than the original:

I never knew a final countdown could be so low energy.

I stumbled across a video on FB of her playing jazz on the bagpipes while dancing in an endearingly dorky way. Had never heard of her, and looked her up on YT.  She really is amazing. I'd pay to see her live any day.

/ I miss live music
