Sure, because this Kanye guy is a total one-hit wonder.  No staying power at all.

Also celebrity brands never do well on their own, look at how nobody wants a Gibson Les Paul anymore, now that no one really knows who that Gibson Les Paul fella was.

I think up until his Presidential bid and psychotic breakdown (and divorce), I would have agreed with you. History won't be too kind to him, especially over the Trump stuff.

Subby probably also thinks that hippity hop rap crap is a flash in the pan, and the kids will be back to rockin and rollin any day now.

Before that pillow guy Kanye held the title of Most Prolonged Public Celebrity Mental Breakdown.

No, I won't.  Because by then, he'll be President of this fine country of ours.

Prototype Yeezy Sneakers would make a great cover-band name

I know it's just down to individual taste and people obviously love these shoes, but they all look like something an oppressed race of aliens on old Star Trek episodes would be wearing.

History is going to preserve his music catalog and forget about his politics. If you look up James Brown or Elvis, these aren't the first images that appear.

Why are his sneakers so valuable in the first place?

mrmaster: Why are his sneakers so valuable in the first place?

Because he says they are and his fans believe him. It's an old psychological trick. If you charge an outrageous amount for something, it fools people into thinking it must be incredibly valuable, because otherwise how could you charge so much for it?

Expensive sneakers seem to really appeal to people who shouldn't be spending a lot on sneakers.

Given past examples, I'd say history is going to remember the platinum albums, including one of the best hip hop debut albums of the last 30 years.

Your choice not to expose yourself to his music, and given your predisposition you may not be open to it. But I came to listen to Kanye long after he was primarily associated with his odd behavior, and assumed he was nothing more than that.  Then I listened to My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.  Then I listened to it again.

And again.

And I was forced to admit, crazy egomaniacal behavior aside, it was the work of a genius.

Or subby is like me: I like hip hop, I'm just not impressed by Kanye West, his music, or his antics. I don't care about his clothes or his shoes. He's just ... meh.

Just like, your opinion man.

You can like him or not, hes not a flash in the pan. He's an established, influential artist with a catalog of hits.  That's facts.

Maybe not in your music collection, but if we're talking sales, influence and fanbase, they're all industry giants. I doubt any of us live long enough to see a time when any of them are forgotten about.

Sorry to tell you this Subby, but Kanye is going to be president.  He's going to pull a Trump and run in the next four or five presidential elections just for the free publicity and then BAM!

St. Ronnie --> Trump --> Kanye.  It's pretty much inevitable. You can see the dumpster fire rolling down the hill to the oil covered tire yard.

...but but but it can't happen! He's obviously insane! He says the craziest shiat!  No reasonable person would ever vote for him!

Yeah I agree but that's exactly what they said about the last chucklefark and how did that turn out?

This is Fark...  How do you guys not know how American media works?  Famous person says crazy shiat and lazy journalists report it because it gets clicks and said famous person becomes even more famous.  It's pretty much Kanye's whole playbook.

I agree with you guys, Kanye's music is meh, his shoes are ugly and he says some of the dumbest shiat I have ever heard... and that's exactly why I would bet that he will be around for a long time.
