Now, for the first time ever, a former Enterprise crew member is starting one of their own

Their own podcast? I thought that's Will Whedon's entire career now.

I met her at a con once.  Very nice, knew all the episodes by name, just don't call her Cheryl.

I still don't understand the fan hate for Dr. Crusher. I liked her plenty.

Fans hate her? Are you confusing her with Pulaski?

Is this a joke? Am I not getting a joke here?

I know people didn't like Pulaski, and I can see why. From what I've heard about Crusher, apparently people found her bossy, nagging, and she made bad decisions? Maybe this is one of those vocal minority things, and I just assumed it was the general consensus because I kept hearing it from those who really hated her.

Wasn't that how all the main female characters were written on TNG?  Which is odd, because occasionally they did have a well-written guest or secondary female character on the show, so the writers could handle the work.  They just didn't.

Herr Morgenstern: I know people didn't like Pulaski, and I can see why.

It was easy to see why people hated Pulaski. She started her tenure by being disrespectful to Data practically in scene one, treating him as a less-than. Considering how popular Data was as a character at the time, that was a really bad choice on the writers behalf for the viewers first introduction to her.

When you couple that with an overall haughty attitude towards just about everything, she was pretty much guaranteed to be the target of the audience's hatred. She might as well have started out by proudly telling a story about how she single-handedly got Spock and McCoy booted out of Starfleet.

Or the fans were a bunch of basement-dwelling misogynists.

One of the first DVDs I bought was Labyrinth. Among the special features was a making of documentary which included a segment on the dance training. I did a double take and thought, "Is that Dr Crusher?" Apparently she did the choreography for the movie. I also have to say she made an 80s leotard look good.

Criminally underutilized in the show and films and it should be rad as hell to hear her shoot the shiat with people about the franchise and other stuff.

I liked them both really, Crusher for being her own doctor and Pulaski for doing her thing but with a Dr. McCoy twist to it. That and she was on TOS so she got extra points with me there.
