That's a somewhat ... eclectic ... group of writers to have featured on the mural.

And considering that several of Anais Nin's "erotic" writing concerned itself with non-negative portrayals of child rape and, um, necrophilia, I'm fascinated by the fact that people are OK with her presence on the mural but not Allen's. Or maybe they've never read a word she wrote.

I think that if I were the muralist or the bookstore I'd just tell them it was supposed to be William Shakespeare.

1980s Ann Arbor was a weirder place than it is now.  This will all be painted over soon.  Too many old white male weirdos on that wall.

When I was working on U of M's central campus, I would walk by that mural 2-3 times a week and I never been able to figure out what the commonality was or what point the artist was making in choosing those five particular individuals.

Woody Allen made a lot of great movies. I regard him as being like Michael Jackson, a creeper whose work is too strong to be ignored.

Is Kafka the guy who wrote the story of a man who wakes up to find himself a giant Woody Allen?

Directors Amy Ziering and Kirby Dick have become specialists in fashioning #MeToo claims into "documentary" films. Their 2015 effort, The Hunting Ground, which focused on sexual assault on college campuses, came under sharp criticism for its "misleading" and "inaccurate" character. A group of Harvard law professors described The Hunting Ground as a "purported" documentary that provides "a seriously false picture both of the general sexual assault phenomenon at universities and of a male Harvard law student who is accused of assault.

We're in a moment where the social pressure on journalists/media inspires them to *not* poke holes in the Farrows' story, especially given Ronan's status as a #metoo hero (in spite/regardless of the fact that he's a lousy journalist).

I don't give a fig about Woody Allen, but HBO is airing several hours worth of Farrow family propaganda.

Yeah, because there is no hanky panky between adult men and boys in Damian and there was no old pervert moments in Steppenwolf. Oh wait. Hahaha I assumed that the complainers were literate and actually had read a book. Literature is dangerous, news at 11.

If Woody Allen's likeness is replaced with someone else, who should that be?

Mia Farrow?

Frank Sinatra?

I'm surprised they didn't go full on "Entitled white racist cultural appropriators" on it.

Lol Herman Hesse and Nin are 1000x scarier than Woody.

Newsflash: humans do unsavory things. Learn to grow up and live with it. Or even better, stop idolizing and hero worshipping. Nobody is better than anyone else and we all die the same.

The March Hare or the Mad Hatter.  Both are nuts.  I have no idea who to root for.

Are you saying some people didn't read TFBs before protesting?  I wonder what their Fark handles are.

Woody Allen on Nazis
Youtube BCb2Le3wtIk

He was right. We should have listened to him.

And Mia's a disreputable, psychotic, vengeful, hypocritical harpy who brainwashed half (only half) of her kids. I'll believe the investigators who thoroughly delved into it and found Woody innocent, and Mia's kids who said they personally witnessed her coaching Dylan to say (and eventually believe) horrible things about Woody, who they say never did anything bad to any of them, but their mother sure did. I find Moses a lot more believable than Ronan. And I pity Dylan because she has been manipulated by a narcissist, and the REAL abuser, her mom.

Anyone else watch that HBO doc? Besides being somewhat boring, and probably twice as long as it had to be, I thought Woody came out of it "the winner", if that can be said, even with the creepy fact that he married his girlfriend's teen daughter. And haven't a few of her children cut off all ties with Mia? Strange all around.

Nineteen. You say "teen" and it sounds like he did something illegal. Hell, I dated a 19-year-old when I was 36 (briefly, and I never would again because most people are insane until they reach 30).
