Last time I had a Burger King burger (months ago), it was like chugging a bottle of liquid smoke.

It's always disappointing that when you go by BK you'll smell flame-grilling but then what you get is twice-nuked but still cold crap.

I haven't lived in the US in 13 years, but isn't McDonald's (still?) the place for breakfast?

(Unless you live in Boston. Then, it's Dunkies.)

I give Burger King a try every 5 years or so (for the last 25 years) and every time I ask myself, "Why did I do that?"

The only thing worse is Burgerville. Man, they went downhill.

I'll go to BK before McDonald's.  McDonald's prices have gotten out of hand.

The ones around here seem horribly mismanaged. And I don't just mean during the pandemic--it's been bad for years. Consistently the worst fast-food experiences I've had here--wrong orders, running out of ingredients and sauces, unusually long wait times, and their hours kept shifting. For a while the Burger King near me was closing at seven o'clock. Seven, inside a city? Really? That location is closed now, no surprise.

I do like their food, though. I just wish getting food from them wasn't so lacking.

When I used to go -- not quite regularly, but every once in a while, I'd customize the burger so they had to make a fresh one rather than grab an old premade one from under the heat lamps.  Lately though all I can taste is that fake bloody smoke.  The only thing I'll get there any more, if I ever do go, which isn't likely, are the nuggets.  They're not great, but they're cheap.

No. Not by a long shot. BK has tater tots, french toast sticks, soudough cheese and bacon/ham/sausage hot sandwiches, and the best breakfast burrito ever: Eggs, cheese, tater tots, sausage, bacon

I mean ... both of them do ... serviceable fast food burgers. I would find it difficult to pick one over the other. My answer would be something like, "Neither, I'd go to a place that makes actual good hamburgers."

In a pinch, when time is of the essence and there's a McDonald's RIGHT THERE (and often a Burger King not that far away), I'll just go to McD's and order the Sausage Egg McMuffin. That's their best sandwich.

Sure, I read the business section of the paper first and regularly read stuff from Forbes/Barrons/IBD.  I also read creationist-evangelical vomit for the lulz/hate-read.  It's a thing.  It's generally more productive than politics.

From personal experience, Burger King never had the same market share and the franchisees had locations as their main investment compared to McDonald's whose franchisees have to already be quite wealthy for the buy in.

There are ways around that, right?

Oh. I also preferred Burger King's Crosainwich grease sponges and tater nibs as Sunday morning hangover cures.

The BK in my town is always a 6+ minute wait even with no other vehicles because they make everything fresh. Not because they're nice but because their customer service and order times are so bad no one goes there. They have to make everything fresh or they'll lose product. Honestly I have no idea why they're still open.

I remember a few years ago they gave us a free whopper with our order if we used our smart phones to provide positive feedback and those mother farkers couldn't even get the free whopper right. farkin' covered in mayo like they bathed it in it.

The wait times at McDonald's around me has gotten so bad I stopped going to then. 3 to 4 cars infront of you? That's gonna be an hour+ of waiting.

You can [probably] still get cheap McChicken at McDonalds.  Add anything to it and the prices are shocking.  Might as well go to five guys and get something closer to a real hamburger instead of McFood (haven't checked Five Guys prices.  They may have scaled accordingly.  Other "higher grade fast food" will match McPrices).

/dairy queens will grills sell  burger (a double), fries, drink, and sundae for $6.00
//few have grills
///but one 1/4 mile from my work has one.  I try to avoid it.

It's kind of amazing that for all they spend on marketing campaigns, "Make Food Taste Better" isn't at the top of the list of priorities for these fast food companies.

/BK fries suck

Hmmm. I much prefer the Whopper to anything at Mickey Dees. When I'm out with a friend we usually go to BK for 2-for-$5 Whoppers and the line at the drive thru is always long.

I had a sad when BK didn't have zesty sauce. Was that last year? The onions or horseradish wouldn't grow or a shortage or something. Onion rings and zesty sauce from BK are a guilty pleasure.

Five Guys is more expensive than McDonald's. But you get what you pay for. It's a better product.

1) Carl's Jr. has a better breakfast burrito than the BK one described here, because it has all that stuff plus a nice salsa.
2) McDonald's has a nice little breakfast price where you just get two Sausage McMuffins and a large drink and it's $3. Not bad at all.
3) BK is the absolute worst fast food restaurant... but they do have French Toast Dips and no one else seems to. Croissandwiches should just be better than they are.

I hit BK a couple times a month.  The double whopper is solid and tastes how it always has, at least to me.  However, if I order breakfast or pretty much anything else on the menu I feel loaded down and sick... guess my  body only accepts the whopper.  I always order the croissant sandwiches and expect them to be awesome; and they always suck.  The BKs around here are generally run down, mismanaged, and lackluster customer service.   The stores just look dirty.

MCD I hit most mornings for a large $1 soda to feed my soda habit and also a $1 sausage biscuit, because the biscuits are awesome if done right.  That's a great deal; and I'll enjoy it leading to my demise.

I have 4 locations within a 7 minute drive (4 different highway exits).  Three of the four have been renovated and are clean and picture perfect mcd installations.   One has a horribly mixed or horribly maintained soda line as it never tastes right.  2 are stellar, quick, efficient, great staff.  The other is staffed horribly, it takes them forever to acknowledge you at the drive thru and have only about a 10% accuracy rate on getting me the right order.  Need to see if they are all the same franchisee, because the difference between them is baffling.

I've cut down my fast food intake a lot... still too much.
