You know if the police stopped murdering people and acted like a professional career field that held their own people responsible for their actions then BLM would not have to be a thing.

And frankly my wife is a counselor, has dealt with plenty of people on mental health emergencies, without a firearm, vest, taser, or pepper spray and has yet to kill anyone.

If property isn't more valuable than life why are so many of these protesters so quick to go get themselves some property? It's unbelievable  that so many people are defending this and making excuses for these thieves. They are setting stores on fire and stealing shoes and cellphones that has nothing to do with justice they are using the young man's death as a pretext to steal and break shiat.

That's like saying "all we have to do is break the light speed barrier and then we can take weekend trips to alpha centauri".  Yes, if we fixed police, they would be better.  But like breaking the light speed barrier, fixing police also is impossible.  So in the world of sub light speed, we must abolish all police.

how about police are breaking the social contract that black people are more than happy to stick to, without erupting in violence against police? so that perhaps, when cops continually kill black people in violation of the social contract, people break it in turn, but against property? maybe, instead of killing those hurting them, they're doing something less destructive?

or of course, dollar general and companies are of more value than individual humans.

Look, you can't have police that don't know how to control a riot without shooting random bystanders, but anyone who wants to permanently abolish the police should have a look at the time the Montreal police went on strike for 16 hours: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murray-Hill_riot

Sure, the first 16 hours will be rough, but any societal change is hard.  After a few days things will settle into the new normal.

They don't, though? In fact, they have literally gone to court and won court cases outright stating they have 0 legal responsibility to stop crimes in process or protect people?

bootlickers seem to forget that black people aren't trying to exact revenge. If they were, they would be murdering white people. they want respect, not to be killed by cops for having misdemeanor unpaid traffic tickets.

protesting and looting is a less violent response than firing tear gas, and mowing people down with rubber bullets because once of their own was just murdered.

Riot police tend to induce riots.
Partly that's because some minor fraction of protestors always respond to riot cops by throwing things at them.

You might then say, well people shouldn't get violent and throw things at the cops. Except, it always happens. It's absolutely predictable. And if you know it's so completely predictable, are cops showing up in riot gear anything but 100% effective bait to turn a peaceful protest into a riot? It's completely predictable.

And the riot cops show up either knowing this in anticipation of then escalating things with their tactic-cool toys, or they are complete idiots who lack the judgment to carry their toys. And their commanders should know the same. Their calculation is to decide how long to wait so that they have what they consider sufficient excuse to retaliate to the inevitable provocation.

The idiots who throw things or fire off bottle rockets or otherwise rise to the provocation are indeed idiots. But put enough people out there and there will always be idiots. There will be many many more trying to stop the idiots from lighting the match but the idiots will move away from the peacekeepers and find somewhere else to light their match. Because they are arrested in adolescence and only understand that they are angry and that they want to hit someone/something. Humanity is like that. Put riot cops in front of a crowd, it's gonna happen.

wash * rinse * repeat

Y'all defending the police... I have been part of a shooting where two police chiefs, one then and one later, where involved in covering up. I remember all the details of the night, day, date, time, holiday, what people were wearing, what guns were involved and at least the name of the future police chief who to this day hates me, especially because of what he was forced to do that night - one of the rare "good" cops that acted the typical way "good" cops do around the rest of the bad cops.

And we don't need police - certainly not as they exist today - to investigate and prosecute rapists.
