Except actually based on the book this time.

But keep everything Raul Julia did. Just shoot around him.

Nonsense.   Forbidden Planet is perfect as is.

I'd like a remake of Alexander Nevsky, with the same Prokofiev score but less Stalin.  And in color.

Jackson's The Hobbit.

It still confounds me that the folks who made the Lord of the Rings could crank out such garbage. Maybe just edit it to an hour and a half. I didn't bother continuing after the first movie.

Bringing Up Baby

Ghost Rider. But this time have Disney's A-squad work on it.

Oh geez...

The first was TOLERABLE... I mean kinda by itself.
The second was steaming crap.

The THIRD?? People make fun of the Matrix franchise... it was infinitely worse. The snow orc monster guy was just idiotic.

I want to see the Krell storyline expanded.

Truly, one of my favorite movies of all time.

Also a remake will never happen.

I didn't realize there are trailers for movies from the 1930s.

Seconded on Ghost Rider.
I'd also like to see a Disney version of Hitchhiker's guide.

How about a Quentin Tarantino version of the little mermaid?

Random sex, drugs and rock & roll with a silent woman kicking ass on a beach.

There can be a horrible monarchy that she destroys like the plantation in Django Unchained. She can kidnap a prince like Meghan Markle did and take him back to the ocean.

Tarantino will make this movie because it has lots of excuses to look at feet.

One suggestion I've heard which sounds feasible:  Humans discover a Krell colony world, with living Krell.

Less plausible:  Remake it with Leslie Nielsen reprising his role as the commander of the C-57D, but in the vein of "Airplane".

As for it being a favorite movie:  Keep an eye out for this year's Fark Fiction Anthology.  My submission is a reinterpretation of Forbidden Planet, with a much darker subtext.

The Sting II, but done competently and with a cast that at least somewhat resembles the actors from the Newman/Redford original that it was supposed to be a (sort of) sequel to.

Something like Clooney as Gondorff, Brad Pitt as Hooker, and maybe Colin Firth as Lonnegan. Plus a strong female lead - maybe Cate Blanchett or Eva Green, for example - as Veronica/Countess Veronique.

Clooney can bring in his whole usual gang of miscreants as, well, Gondorff's gang of miscreants.

Cool Hand Luke. The original was comically clean. A bunch of hardened criminals on a chain gang acting like middle-schoolers didn't work for me.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest should be told from Bromden's perspective. I want to see his hallucinations. I want to see McMurphy as a 6'4" Irishman. Nicholson was excellent, but still miscast.

A Star Is Born, but do a gender-switch.  This time, it's a man who saves a woman from self-destructive alcoholism.  I think they can wring a few more Oscars out of the franchise.

I'd settle for the promised sequel at the end of Buckaroo Banzai...

The Dreamers, with Jennifer Lawrence in the starring role.

The Bourne movies, true to both the time period and the books. Done right and you have the best spy movies of the decade

When I think about this question, I think of movies with interesting concepts that fail to deliver.

Perfect example: Lady in the Water.  There's a great movie in there but it needs a rewrite by someone who's not convinced of their own brilliance and an editor.

I'm still waiting for the shot by shot remake of Home Alone with 40 year old Macaulay Culkin playing 9 year old Kevin.

This seems like a semi-appropriate thread to express this, but I'd like to see the Coen brothers adapt and make a movie of the song, "Tangled Up in Blue." It seems like a perfect outline for them to build upon.

Triumph of the Will, but this time featuring Trump.

Breakfast at Tiffany's could do with a remake. I know following up Audrey Hepburn is a hard ask, but it could be more faithful to the novella. And a better portrayal of Mr Yunioshi than Mickey Rooney's.

Am I the only one who'd almost always prefer to see sequels, or stories set in the same universe, rather than remakes..?

/ Really, who'd prefer Total Recall 2012 over 1990..? Or Robocop 2014 over 1987..? Or...
// I'm still (impatiently) waiting for the sequel teased at the end of Flash Gordon...

Guillermo del Toro has wanted to make this into a film since the first time he read the story.
Give him ALL the money.

You are not the only one. Me, I'd like to see more sketch anthologies like Kentucky Fried Movie and Amazon Women on the Moon.

Just to see if anyone in Hollywood has the ability and fortitude to pull off such a movie in today's world. Nah, who am I kidding? This wouldn't make it past the pitch in the office today.

Twice Told Tales.  The original was crappy adaptation of the collection of short stories.  The stories are moralistic and a little off center.  Kinda like a cross between 'Leave it to Beaver' and 'Twilight Zone'.  The movie could be done similarly to 'Twilight Zone' the movie with the narrative stories tied together with the stories that paint a picture like "Sights from a Steeple" and "Little Annie's Ramble".

A film that I thought was a bit of a let down was 47 Ronin. I went in hoping it would be something akin to 7 Samurai and hoped that it would give at least a few of the Ronin their moment to shine. Instead it was the Keanu Reeves show and 46 other dudes.

I like Keanu Reeves but apart from being in the title the other 46 dudes in the film did almost nothing except die

If they remade that and made it more about the group then I'd be happy

A good choice. I wish they would use the real age of the characters but then we'd be watching a teen flick.

I vaguely remember something about adding a romantic lead to the story and some other stuff that would mess with the story line from the novella and ended up glad they didn't make it.

Sometimes dead is better.

Quentin Tarantino's "Titus Andronicus" with Danny Trejo in the title role and Uma Thurman as Tamora.

I would say that cinematic triumph, "SGT Kabukiman, NYPD", but it demands the atmosphere of 1980s NYC, and that is hard to capture.

I wish they'd remake 'Police Academy 6: City Under Siege'. It was the bridge between 'Police Academy 5: Assignment Miami Beach' and 'Police Academy: Mission to Moscow' much like 'Empire Strikes Back' was the bridge between 'A New Hope' and 'Return of the Jedi' but it missed its mark just a bit too much.

Couldn't be done.  Too offensive to the Irish.
