(NHL)   For this edition of Wednesday hockey we have a matinee time for Coyotes-Wild at 2:00 PM ET on NHLN. Other top games include Avalanche-Blues at 7:30 PM ET on NBCSN, Knights-Kings, and much more. Hasn't April been great?   (nhl.com) divider line

The Coyotes-Wild is a makeup game from it being postponed of course. I wonder if Hulu or ESPN+ has that game on.

Circling back to the trade deadline, it sounds like the reason Buffalo got fleeced so badly in the Hall deal was because Hall held them hostage with his no trade clause.  It looks like the situation was basically once Boston was showing interest, Hall decided he didn't want to go anywhere else.

It's a makeup game that was moved up from tonight (due to the recent events in that state)

I'll say this - and it's a sample size of one, so big grain of salt - but if Lazar keeps the hustle up like he did last night that may be the real deal. Basically Lazar for Bjork with Hall thrown in.

//no matter what, the Bruins had better figure out how to score more

I've heard a couple commentators say it was unnecessary for Buffalo to give Hall an NTC when he signed with them because Hall was out of options by that time.

I would bet a couple of bucks that Hall's next contract won't include a full NTC or NMC (no movement clause). He's not worth it.

/limited NTC, maybe

They didn't have to give him 8 million either.  I'd guess teams were willing to give him 4-5  with an LTC at best.

Regarding Hall in general: I saw him play in Buffalo two weeks ago and I'm thrilled he's gone. He just played the perimeter, including putting a play completely offside, because he didn't want to cut to the net. The 4 mil cap hit was worth losing him. Gonna miss Lazar, though.

Now all Buffalo needs to do is realize that Skinner is Canadian for Bonilla, buy him out, take the hit and get rid of more dead weight.

Current scheduling has Vancouver playing 19 games in 30 days, including six back-to-backs.
Got to hope that there's a few more postponements around the league to push back the season end.
Players are going to get hurt with that schedule.

Unless, several teams in the North completely collapse, the Canucks aren't getting to the playoffs - they'd need a .750 winning percentage, or more.

They need to just cancel the games with whatever teams up there are already out of the race (haven't checked the standings for a while). Or cancel/forfeit a couple of games for each team up North & distribute the points appropriately.  Call it the Gritty penalty...they farked around & are finding out.

Same thing with the playoffs.  If an entire team goes down then they forfeit the missed games.  You can't put everyone else on pause while the team gets better (& if that's the case then you have neutral docs/organizations administering the tests so that a team that's sick doesn't just ignore positive results).  A bubble isn't going to work again this year, especially with so many teams in the US already letting some fans back.

I wonder how vaccination is progressing among the American teams.  The one article I saw about it, the teams were being a bit vague, if they responded to the inquiry at all.

The Associated Press asked all 31 NHL teams how many players, coaches and staff had been partially or fully vaccinated and if any had refused a vaccine, and none would provide specific details. Among the responses, the Tampa Bay Lightning said some players and staff had been vaccinated, the Rangers said many were getting a shot, the Detroit Red Wings said a majority and the Columbus Blue Jackets a vast majority of players and coaches had received at least one dose.

I can sort of see being vague for a week or two, just to avoid getting punched in your shoulders at every opportunity when they're tender.  Once they're over the side effects though...

Also probably spreading out the vaccinations within the team so that not everyone is potentially feeling like crap at once.

_/got #2 on Sunday & even though I rarely take a nap in the afternoon, yesterday & today I was down for 6+ hours at some point after I got up.  I mean it's great that my body is recognizing things & fighting it off, it just sucks at the moment that I can't stay awake.  Better than some other side effects though, I'll grant that one.

The NHL should also greet the winning North team at the border with a big box of vaccines.  Let them sit out their one week quarantine while getting over any side effects from it...

Yeah, that's pretty good as far as side effects go.  I get injection #2 in a week and a half.  Luckily, so far everyone in my family who's gotten both shots has had little to no side effects from it.  My mother didn't feel great for about a day afterwards, but that's been the worst of it.  I'm hoping I take after my father and sister and it's no worse than a flu shot.

From what I've heard from various people, if the 1st shot doesn't wipe you out; the 2nd one probably will. If the 1st one kicks your ass, the 2nd one usually doesn't. And that's regardless of the manufacturer.

Yeah, I decided to shop elsewhere for reverse retro since the '70s Vachon-era purple jersey looks too much like that one.

But because I shopped late, my choices in my size weren't much. Toronto Maple Leafs it was. I wish it had the sleeve piping of the '70s style Maple Leafs jerseys, but it looks close enough. The alternative was getting a Flyers jersey or Canadiens, but none on the former and twice the price I paid for the Toronto one on the latter.

Jerseys I'm hunting for:
1. The Aquafresh/Gorton's Fisherman NY Islander jersey (PISSED they didn't reverse retro that)
2. An original Mighty Ducks of Anaheim burgundy/teal road jersey (PISSED they decided to bring it back but replace burgundy with black for the anniversary jersey)
3. Vegas Golden Knights road jersey
4. Dallas Mooterus
5. Current LA Kings' gray 3rd

Sorry, off doing something else for a bit.

That's what I've heard too.  One theory is that if you've been exposed/had a mild or asymptomatic case of Covid that the first shot is essentially your 'second' & you'll react then.  The people getting wiped out after their 2nd shot thus haven't been exposed over the past year.  Which makes sense if thought of that way
