It's the weapon most normal people choose to wear when going to Walmart or Dollar General.

Stupid Ohio.

I'm okay with this. We just got done saying guns are the real issue, so I see no issue with being able to conceal carry blades.

The fark are you doing taking the alcohol out of livers?  Most people just buy it in the store or make it in a still.

Sap gloves are probably classed as a cestus. Or there is some prolific gladiatorial combat going on in Cincinnati.

Ohio is finally into farking around. Next stop lands at finding out.  The citizens in rural Ohio pay taxes to poison themselves. I would assume this isn't a great leap from there.  The state wins. Insurance won't cover these things. The free-for-all will provide hours of reality entertainment.
Voting will be harder to get away with, but clubbing, maiming, and brain damaging another human is just an emotion away.

FTFA: "This is a great day for Ohioans who no longer have to worry that they might be arrested under a dangerously vague state law for carrying a common tool, their pocket-knife, concealed in their pocket"

I know I always carry a set of brass knuckles and a cestus (new word, yay!) as a tool in my job as a side-of-beef tenderizer. Never leave without it. Sometimes, when I'm walking down the street, I'll see a restaurant that has a help-wanted sign for a beef pounder.  I got a leg up on the dudes who foolishly left their tools at home.

Uhhh, the only people that need to have their nuts stomped are the stoner idiots that thought this was a great idea the last time we talked about weed legalization.

Never underestimate the power of stoner stupidity.

Is it bad that I know exactly which store you're talking about?  Or at least its signs on the highway.  I've always been tempted to take a look, but I also don't want to ruin the image that my brain has built from the road signs.

Actually, I'm in favor of this.  In the near future, when I'm old, I had planned to carry a sword cane, in case any ne'er do well hooligans try to interfere with my evening walk, or some such.  But, to my horror, I learned that, not only are sword canes considered concealed weapons (duh, that's the point, no pun intended), and you cannot get a license for them.  At least in Washington State, you can only get a concealed carry permit for a gun, like any commoner might carry.  Right to bear arms my sweet butt!!  My Second Amendment!  Ah, people only care about the word "arms" when it means guns, not knives, swords, maces or cudgels.  Or, I suppose, if it means their actual arms.  Anyway, I can buy a sword cane, I can own one, but I cannot legally carry it around.  But I can legally have a giant hand cannon in my belt, if I so choose, training optional.  Where's the justice?  Anyway, I figured I'd just carry the cane anyway, and, eh, if I need it, I'll use it, and worry about the consequences later.  Or maybe run or walk swiftly away (I'll be old, remember).  But now, Ohio is showing us the way.  Huzzah!

Honestly, sword canes are some bullshiat. They're too small to be cutters. You can only sticky poke with them, like an epee but without the hand guard.

Prior law prohibited anyone in the state from carrying a concealed "deadly weapon" other than a handgun.

Because guns are always OK. And as far as unconcealed goes, were conspicuous weapons always OK?

YMMV but in PA, basically yes.  You're technically not allowed to carry dirks, daggers, or any other long knife without a reason, but at SCA events most people would have a small armory on their person so that reason doesn't exactly have to be notarized.

We already have CCW permits for handguns, but CCW permits did not extend to any other weapons.

This just allows people to conceal carry anything they want - as it should be.

I'm just hoping they pass constitutional carry and get rid of the idiocy behind CCW permits at all.

austerity101: Ohio: "If you take their guns, they'll just use something else to kill people! Now excuse us while we make it easier to carry other lethal weapons, thus proving we were right all along."

These laws were mostly used to throw PoC in jail for walking home with a box cutter or a pocket knife in their pants.

Cops love finding a knife on someone's person during a patdown because it is an easy charge to add on.

There is absolutely nothing bad about this change at all.
