Wayne Player elaborated on what he was thinking at that moment in an interview with Golf Digest. He said there was "zero intent" to advertise the brand.

"The only thought from that point was that it would be cool for fans to know what ball my dad was teeing off with," he said Friday. "That's where it ends. If I've hurt people's feelings then I'm truly sorry and hope they will forgive me."

That's some hard core Republican talk there. Lie outright and then miss the entire frickin point.

LOL. His brother didn't hold back! I'd say it's going to be an awkward Thanksgiving this year but that sounds like the status quo.

When his Dad was covered in logos himself?  They are just pissed that the specific brand didn't pay for the airtime.

I clicked on the article to see what was going on here, and I found that I side with Augusta National totally on this one.  Don't take advantage of something like this to sell your shiat.

Then I went too far down and started seeing the comments.  Jesus.  Fox News' comment sections are truly a wretched hive of villany and scum.

Not one to follow golf, I have zero backstory on this.  But his brother's statement is pretty telling.

"Wayne has since correctly been banned from Augusta National and The Masters tournament. What a shame. What an embarrassment. What a bad decision to allow him on the first tee after years of similar shenanigans. My apologies to all," Marc Player wrote.

Sounds like Marc's brother is such a doofus he didn't even need to mention what his brother did, only that a bad outcome was an inevitable outcome.  Thanksgiving is bound to be awkward in the Player house.

Maybe someone payed the kid. Cheaper than official sponsorship. Yea, they should be mad.

Huh. It's weird that Fox News would use a photo that prominently features a black golfer and his caddy with no caption to explain that the real culprit is the white knucklehead in the background. I wonder why they would do that.

Marc isn't the best person either. Gary Player (the dad) had to sue Marc about a year ago for several million dollars, over some scam company Marc runs.

Fox's readerbase would know that Player is white.  They of all people would follow golf and could tell the golfers apart.  Hell, they probably know of the trials and tribulations of the Player family.

Also, that's probably the best picture they could get of a golfer's farkup son working as a caddy.

Did we mention the awkward Thanksgiving at the Player household yet?

I've met Wayne. He lives in town. He doesn't tip.

Douchebag.
