Goddamnit, I actually have to approve of something the NCAA is doing?

I can't read that article since its mobile site keeps reopening the video that takes up three quarters of the page no matter how many times I close it.

It was bound to happen.

In the area of civil rights, the first time that I remember marriage equality even being taken seriously as a legitimate concept would have been around 2004. My own anecdotal evidence at the time and polling all say it wasn't popular to the point that even then Senator Barack Obama was publicly against it when running for 2008. Not even seven years later it became the law of the land.

It is funny how quickly things move sometimes looking back on them, the proverbial dams being erected in desperation which are subsequently overcome in a way that makes it seem to have been inevitable when that wasn't really the case at all.

And then in a few years they will wonder why most of the women playing sports in the NCAA just happen to be trans and wonder why CIS girls find something else to occupy their time in high school because they can't compete, particularly in track and field.

I don't care if someone is trans, but CIS girls shouldn't be excluded from sports because of trans girls.

They're in the need of some good public sentiment so it seems like a fine move at the moment

Looking back, resistance to MLK generated a fair amount of backlash. Eventually, most places got it right. Some never will.

Even in the unlikely event that trans women retain an edge, it's not the death knell that you chicken littles keep claiming it is.

Does the presence of NBA-caliber players mean no one else plays college basketball?  Have all American men quit competing in marathons because the NCAA and IOC haven't banned Kenyans from distance running?  Why do the  millions of bench players participate in sports? After all, it's pretty obvious that you're not going to be a champ as a 5'8" college QB.

I don't know how the question should be answered but to claim that the vast majority of people play sports because they expect to be at the top is ridiculous.

You may want to read that again. Especially since the author of the report and reviewers even say that it is of too small a sample size and not constructed in a comprehensive manner to make any general conclusions

There it is, the stupidest farking thing I'll read today.

People have actually convinced themselves that high school boys will become trans just to win a farking track meet.

Seriously, don't breed.

Welp. There goes the millions that the Women's College World Series. brought to OKC.

And the stadium the city built to host the event. And the Museum.

Well, in places like Oklahoma, some boys would, though the ones who did would be more like Cartman in the Special Olympics than the overpowering force that single-handedly dominates a competition they imagine they would be.

Oklahoma needs to face consequences for letting the MAGAts take over. Not to punish the MAGAts, because they won't accept any blame anyway, but to help the sane folks realize there is no saving this place and that we should leave.

I mean, the OK GOP just elected one of the most bigoted state reps in recent memory (who we all thought we were rid of) to be state party chair, and next year the idiot population will almost assuredly reelect our imbecile of a governor. Stuff like a trans ban is only the tip of the iceberg that this state will be hitting in the next few years.

Oklahoma is solving the problem of appealing to voters thought hate and fear, since the GOP has nothing else to offer.
