So does this mean people just suck at keeping their computers secure?

Thanks to Brexit, they're stuck using old ZX Spectrums, so I wouldn't be too worried.

Merltech: So does this mean people just suck at keeping their computers secure?

I'd say it means computer security sucks. Fixing the users is probably never going to start working.

Since these guys aren't so bright I wonder how easy it would be to sucker them in to learning COBOL if I pass it off as the latest and greatest hacking tool?

Actually fixing them might take a few generations, but it would improve things. But people don't like talk like that, sounds eugenics-y to them.

The problem really is that you can't fix a people problem with software. You have to remove people from the equation. That's not something most people are willing to accept, and they certainly aren't going to choose to remove themselves.

Per usual, the problem is people. Per usual no one is interested in fixing the problem.

Not sure if serious. Yes, if we could eliminate users, my work would be a lot simpler. I don't think it would pay as well, though.

But in a computer system with a primary function of "clicking links", the fact that clicking a link might give a hacker full access to and control of the system is not really a problem with the user who is clicking links.

There isn't a simple fix, but warning the user "this might fark up your shiat!" was never a likely solution.
