They're not wrong.  Maybe it's different in the conservative media sphere, but he's kind of getting memory holed now that he can't tweet dumb shiat every hour.  Like the media after 5 years suddenly figured out "we can ignore him", now that he's not good for ratings.

There are some articles claiming #45 lost money as POTUS.  How can that be true with all of his scheming and corruption?
There is no way Donald will be held accountable for his actions other than his two impeachments.  He's going to play golf, try his hand at election scams like his re-election campaign and social network.  He will dodge creditors and engage in many lawsuits over his debts (he has apparently been involved in >50,000 lawsuits in his lifetime).
Then one day soon he will fall over from either a heart attack or stroke and the entire skyscraper of cards will come crashing down, hopefully burying his awful kids.

TFA completely misses that the first "successful" campaign was built on pure grievance.  He tries to make it sound like BiglyHands was actually championing any idea other than "white grievance," when the unfortunate reality is the grievance is all there ever was, it's still there, and it will still work when the competition doesn't have enough of it.

His businesses continued to lose money as they have for years, particularly during the pandemic he failed to deal with.

He and his family made bank from abusing the office but not enough to offset the losses.

He couldn't sell out arenas when he was the actual president.

When -- not if -- he goes back on the public event trail he'll be full-on "Puppet Show and Spinal Tap" pathetic, but, said events will still be breathlessly covered as "finger on pulse of the nation" bellwethers

Who?

But seriously, normally an occasion to meet with a former president is considered an honor, or at least a valuable PR piece on the campaign trail by at least one party, sometimes even if you were a shiat president. Turns out you can deal with that problem real easy if you just whore yourself out for endorsements, try to hold the reins on the wild shiathorse you already got bucked off of, play a leading role in the deaths of half a million people, and have stupid hair.

/Who was I talking about again? Eh. Must not be important. Oh well.

Really? I would call it remarkably slow, considering he lost spectacularly in November last year and has been floundering ever since.

It all comes down to whether or not the media re-platforms him. IMHO, it was not just tweets, it was the fact that EVERY major media site would spread exactly what he said to the four corners of the country. His twitter following was dwarfed by the support he received in spreading his message from the new york times, the washington post, cnn, msnbc, fox, news aggregator sites, and even news entertainment sites such as that right wing stronghold called fark.

The message? The Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is a "dumb son of a b-tch" and a "stone cold loser" for failing to back up Trump's baseless assertions of voter fraud during the election he decisively lost last November. The former president also castigated his vice president, Mike Pence, calling him a coward for going along with his constitutionally proscribed role in Congress on Jan. 6 instead of working to overturn the "bullsh-t" election results.

This

But every viable candidate for president in 2024 is going to be following Trump's lead on immigration, trade, and waging a rhetorically ferocious culture war against the left - and most of them will be doing it without Trump's own considerable personal liabilities, including the hatred of a large swath of the electorate.

Is why you should be afraid, very afraid.

I think the Cincinnatus Myth requires his service to come at a large personal cost

The True Believer Trumpers will take as an article of faith that Trump lost money while focusing on being a great president the greatest president
But on the plus side there will be fewer True Believers as the band wagon jumpers and those who just can't stand to support a loser find it easier to pretend they never supported him than to do the mental gymnastics in order to believe Trump is a winner

Oh and there will be a move by some to pay Trump back for what he lost, the same way the was a website dedicated to making up for all the money the Christian Baldwin Brother lost for being a Christian, there are going to be people on the poverty line sending Trump 5 to ten dollars a month and feeling guilty it can't be more

THE TV show Happy Days was once somehow popular but rapidly becoming less so. They kept trying new things to regain favor. Near the end Fonzie jumped a shark tank with his motorcycle. In hindsight that was deemed as the moment when all was lost. Jumping the shark thus means a media fixation had their run, desperately done all they could do, but it's over now.

No, he was on water skies being pulled by a speed boat by Richie in the Pacific Ocean. How a mechanic wearing a leather jacket and college kid from the middle of the country knew how to do this was never explained. Also, this was in the middle of Happy Days run. They hadn't even burned down Arnold's yet and Richie and Ralph were still there. But otherwise your analysis is correct with the term gaining popularity with a book written by Jon Hein.

On his 1995 tax return, he claimed more losses than any American. Like, he was #1.

Of course, it meant that he wouldn't pay taxes for the better part of two decades, but losses aren't new to this guy. His claimed net worth was largely in intangible assets like goodwill that are hard to value, so he just made it up. People have reported asking him what he's worth multiple times a day only to get wildly different answers. His money is from inheritance, and the most charitable thing you can say is that he hasn't squandered it all.

I don't remember the show well--for example, my memory is that the jump was over a tank in Arnold's parking lot, is it possible he did it twice?--but Fonzie could do anything. I hated Fonzie and the magic of the leather jacket. And Joanie wasn't much better. How Joanie and Chachi got a show is beyond me.

(Sort of met a nut job that thought he was Fonzie, met a woman at a party, married her in the morning. Was at a friend's house when she called to say she had a gun ready to shoot him when he got home. They sent me to the police station while my friend went over to take the gun way. I got the house wrong-- sent them to the crazy people a couple houses down--but the police had experience with them that they knew where to go anyway.)

Fonzi made the jump on waterskis, not a motorcycle. And it was not when all was lost, but the moment when the show became unbelievably ludicrous, chasing one foolish high after another. The stories the show had to tell had become imaginatively exhausted.

For me, Trump jumped the shark 5 years ago. It's time to let him be cancelled.

So they discovered that since they can't fully stifle or gerrymander them out of existence, they might as well reach out to them. That's so nice, truly the bare minimum of what they could do for potential constituents, let's give them participation awards for it.

"We were nice to your face, didn't call you any names, and we'll help you hold back the people you don't like the same way we've held you back, vote for us now please."
