Trump dismantled the processing of asylum seekers. You can't fix it with a wave of a wand it takes some time.

I know we have some Trump white knights here that will refuse to accept this and try to pretend that didn't happen.

Corvus: Trump dismantled the processing of asylum seekers.

On their way out they literally destroyed or stole the beds of the facilities. The Biden Administration inherited not only a complete mess of an operation, but the resources and facilities were deliberately sabotaged. That's how petty the Trump officials were.

That's why the Biden people wouldn't let reporters in initially. They're not the ones to blame everything on their predecessors so it's taken them awhile to fix everything and get things up to speed.

The average time in CBP custody for unaccompanied migrant children is still far above the 72-hour legal limit, though, hovering around 122 hours, according to data obtained by CNN.

That's a little amazing that with so many kids we are finding places for them so quickly. That's a lot of phone calls.

This is what you get when you elect someone with ties to child smuggling. It's no wonder there is such a dramatic drop, they probably could've taken them all but didn't want anyone to get suspicious.

The article says the peak was March 28th.
Here we are a couple weeks after video leaked and it dropped 45%.
Biden said this issue would be taken care of on day one yet he let it go until it peaked in March.

The last couple weeks have shown he could have done a lot more if it did really drop and they didn't fudge numbers like a Cuomo.

Because they vastly underestimated how bad things were and it took them awhile to get the right people and pieces in place to fix things. Jesus Christ, you can't solve a problem this vast overnight.

Stop spinning nonsense.

I'm sure the GQP folk who cried crocodile tears over conditions for unaccompanied minors last week will be along shortly to congratulate Joe for starting to clean up the mess Dumbald left him.

Annnnnny minute now.

It is rich people welfare.
I'm a bit wary of the numbers in the infrastructure bill for the same reason.
You know the workers would be lucky to get $10 an hour but that guy who owns the company gets $3200 a kid to pad his bank account.

Does anyone know how it'd be possible to open your home to these kids until they find family or other long term options?

I'm glad we're moving children out of those unholy facilities, but I'm not going to start calling cages "pods" because we had an election. The opening photograph shows a cage in a tent stuffed with people, including children, with little more than tinfoil to keep them warm. It wasn't acceptable under Bush, the Lesser, Obama, or Trump. It's not acceptable under Biden. I understand Biden has been in office for less than 100 days, but that doesn't make a cage a "pod."

You've obviously never been brought in to resolve something that has gone badly.

It will be years or longer until we get an accurate description of the sheer gram volume of negligence that happened under the Trump administration.

Let's put it this way, we only heard about the things that didn't matter enough for them to focus on keeping under wraps.  The things they DID prioritize will be MUCH worse than this.

2021-04-13 8:35:57 AM
Even the kids have moved on from this GOP fantasy.  (It's probably the reason for the Republican caucus to show up at the border so quickly after Biden's inauguration.  It was only a matter of weeks before they struck the set on that campaign ad.)

The Biden administration claims that they didn't realize how bad the problem was because the Trump team did not cooperate at all during the transition. They were receiving no actionable information until the inauguration. Not to mention that outgoing Trump officials allegedly sabotaged all they could on their way out. Was it naïve to say they'll fix things on day one? Probably. But like someone walking into a bathroom after Trump has used it, you expect it to be bad, but you're still not prepared for just how terrible the situation before you is.

My problem is this. Biden has replaced the people at the top of DHS and ICE, but the low-level grunts are the same. Those exact same people who willingly and enthusiastically carried out Trump's policy of "cruelty first" are still the ones that are handling the day to day lives of these kids and other migrants in US custody. I don't really see things getting drastically better until you cut out ALL the rot, not just the more visible bits.

It takes time to find lost parents, and I am absolutely sure that the time before the peak would have been spent doing investigations into where all the relevant people in this calamitous Trump atrocity were, then spending time locating them, arranging reunions, and so on. You can't expect instant results, but when people effectively work on a problem with a clear solution in mind, you can rest assured the problem will be solved!

The Clintons and Lady Gaga never had any trouble getting their supply - the rich never do.  I'm just hopeful that those of us in the lower eschelons of the pedophile illuminati cannibalism cult can finally get a kid every now and then.  It's been nearly 2 years since my last hit of adrenochrome.

FTFA:

"The number of unaccompanied minors in US Customs and Border Protection custody, akin to jail-like conditions, has dropped 45%, according to the latest government data, amid an ongoing effort by the Biden administration to find suitable spaces to accommodate kids after facing scrutiny for overcrowded facilities."

WTF CNN? Usually the first paragraph is a lengthy repeat of the headline, but it looks like someone did a little editorializing.

Yes, and the rate of vaccinations has sped up but the pandemic isn't over.

Doesn't mean there isn't a real difference for the children who have been moved to proper lodgings, or hope for the remaining.

We also need to improve conditions.
