Subby reminds me that I have a bag of spuds that need to be used before they start growing limbs. I currently have chicken breast (frozen, but can be thawed in the microwave), vegetable oil, garlic and said potatoes. But I do have a impressive spice rack. I implore the power of Fark for tips. I used to be an expert bartender and could use all kinds of flavor. But I suck in the kitchen.

I was supposed to go shopping today but was too hungover to deal with all the sunlight and the anti-maskers at the store.

So climate change is saving me from my vice?

Then again, some of us like dark potato chips.

We don't eat a lot of potato chips at our house, but when we do, they're usually Better Made Special Rainbow Dark.

I could grow enough potatoes in my yard to sustain my french fry needs even if climate change got nuts. Also mashed potatoes.

Sounds like skillet fried breakfast taters to me!

Butter a long sheet of foil.
Toss sliced potatoes, sliced onions, in seasoned oil with garlic.
Layer 1/2 on one end of the foil.
Cut chicken breast in stir fry strips and arrange on top, then add the rest of the potato onion mixture.
Seal and bake at 375, turning once, about 30-40 min total.
Alternatively, leave out the chicken, place on bbq, and bbq something.
Vary with other ingredients. Zucchini, slices of corn on the cob, plum tomatoes, anything.
Minimum dishes, minimum prep, minimum misery.

So the areas of the world suitable for growing potatoes will be further north? Okay, there's plenty of room. Have you seen Saskatchewan?

More seriously there's a lot to consider then just moving the crops north. Is there enough rainfall? What's the soil like? Are there pests we have to worry about that we didn't when we grow further south?

Of all the problems posed by global warming, potatoes should be the least of our worries. They are the furthest thing from having become mono-culture and there are plenty of traits to breed from. Here is a list of the 3800 varieties available in Peru.

Last week i took my limbed potatoes and buried them in the garden. Did the same last year and got a surprising amount of nice medium spuds in the fall, yes they were russets. Also buried some limbed red spuds, we'll see how those do...

First, don't use the microwave to thaw. Put it in a container of cold water in the sink & turn the water on to a trickle so the water & outside of the chicken doesn't get to room temp. This is an HACCP-approved method, even in hospitals where food illnesses can kill.

Second, come up with a marinade for whatever flavor profile you wanna go with. Make the taters & chicken opposite.
