"... still going to default to the belief that black lives matter"

Wow.

He said that out loud.

No wonder FOX is the only major network that doesn't make transcripts of their shows.

Klan members won't wear face masks or hoods.  They just kill and try to come up with reasons for their hate.

sness.

It is so farking bad, there is literally a farking support group for family members who have had lived ones killed by the police.

Where does one typically aim when attempting to subdue some with a taser? Are cops trained to avoid tasering people in body parts that will cause undue harm? It will be interesting to see if the victim here was shot point blank in a part of the body associated with lethality regardless of whether a taser or a handgun is used, tossing the whole "accidental discharge" narrative straight out the window.

2021-04-12 9:59:31 PM
I wish cops would go to maga rallies and try to tase them but instead shot them all. What a shame that would be.

2021-04-12 10:01:06 PM
There is nothing accidental about pulling the trigger.

she shot him square in the chest, from a mere few feet away. pretty sure they are trained to aim for the chest or back to tase, as they are big targets.

So the officer had a proper sight picture and couldn't tell a black pistol from a bright yellow taser?

2021-04-12 10:03:57 PM
It's goddamn exhausting that every other day when a police officer brutalizes somebody, we have people coming out of the woodwork to be like "yeah, but the black person looked scary, amd you can't reasonably expect cops to remember their left from their right side under pressure!"

Are we ready to start seriously talking about defunding/abolishing these guys yet without people being like "that'd cost us the election," yet?

You think Fox gives a shiat about the appearance of being racist?

To paraphrase Eminem, "Every million I make, another relative sues." They relish in doing that.

2021-04-12 10:04:51 PM
None of what they say matters. They have no credibility with the public. No goodwill built up. They are not members of the community they "serve", as a result of decades of increasingly awful behavior. Nothing they say will do anything but piss people off more, because everyone knows this was intentional. This was pigs murdering a member of the community, again.

Well there goes that theory. The cop will likely be fired and that will be the end of it.

this is not for cops, but civilian "self defense" taser owners, but my hunch seems correct:

In another thread, a small town's police department is being forced to pay back thousands of dollars they stole out of some guy's car and wouldn't return. Some posters immediately start talking about why he'd had money in his car.

Some Americans just back authority. It's highly racial, highly autocratic. I don't know what to do about it, but hope we can crack in the other direction.

'golly! did i just use my sidearm that feels absolutely nothing like my taser that's on the other side of my body?'

2021-04-12 10:08:42 PM
Again... trained professionals who are paid and authorized by our government to use good judgment and make life-or-death decisions after extensive training in controlled environments before being allowed to use these tools to protect and serve the public at large are claiming they mistook their less-lethal taser for a totally lethal firearm.  And folks think it's not only a good idea, but a public service to give this kind of power to the public at large by providing these same firearms to as many people as they can.  And that nothing bad can happen as a result.

Oh, a Fox News "correspondent"?

Well, yeah, they don't think.
They just read the script.

Which is written to make white bigots not only feel justified in their prejudice but patriotic AF as well.

White grievance rhetoric that makes them feel special and tells them they are always right especially when they are wrong.

It's the secret of RW propaganda's success in America.

Police training should take 4 years and include a practical and written test over 3 days to obtain a license to practice law enforcement, which has to be renewed every 2 years with continuing policing education requirements.

2021-04-12 10:19:19 PM
It's a real shame I won't be able to teach my kids to trust the police they way I was taught. Instead I'm going to have to teach them to always have their camera recording with every encounter, and don't say anything that might hurt the police officer's feelings, because they may just up and shoot you.

The problem as I see it is that people still think cops are a service to their community despite all the evidence to the contrary. They're security theater. They make a certain privileged caste feel safer, despite the fact that cops don't deter crime, barely solve any of the crimes that come across their desk, and siphon funds from other services that would actually improve the community.

It's goddamn absurd that we face an uphill battle telling folks that a bunch of militarized people that peaked in high school shouldn't be seizing people's assets, much less extrajudicially killing people without recompense... But here we are.

So then, who wants to tell these apparent travellers from the fascist universe that they just gave themselves away?

This was probably like those times that I see a typo the moment after I hit submit... Except instead of the *DOH!* moment being a tiny embarrassment on the Internet, its announcing to the world that they're Nazi-adjacent... At best.

As to why they don't put on the hoods? Because these people actually have convinced themselves that as long as they aren't screaming the N word in between heiling Hitler while wearing klan robes, they aren't racist because those things are the sole definition of "racist."

Cops are trained to aim for center body mass. It does not matter the type of weapon or the circumstances of the situation. Center body mass.
