I do Nazi the problem. What is causing all this Fuhrer? Maybe you have to look at this from the Reich angle....

Goering is the way to spell it without an umlaut, in English and in German.

The only reason I doubt it's supposed to mean anything is...why the fark would anyone venerate Hermann Goering?  He set the Luftwaffles (nay, the entire military) up for failure, and is known more for being fat than he is for commanding his air force.

Hell, even Hitler hated him and denounced him/stripped him of all powers as his last official act before he offed himself.  Why would any NeoNazi like GOERING?

/it'd be like a Stalinist fanboy venerating Beria of all people

Hmmm. Looking more closely at the photo in the article it has "Infidel", Mow Lawn Labia, and Traitor's Buttwipe flags. Just what you'd expect

If the picture was displayed with other various pictures of military types from various wars, that would be one thing. That's what the apologist is insinuating, that it's just basically yet another war relic. But it's not. It's displayed alone on the outside of the building, offering no other context. And as anuran noted, the flags hanging down look to be the kinds desired by the extremists.

The photo shows it from the back and so the letters are reversed.

The border of woke and MAGAT runs right through the area. Leavenworth to Wenatchee. If there was a civil war, this place would see a massacre somewhere. In my neighborhood I've seen Trump flags and Bernie signs. Definitely the Trump contingent is stronger but it's not Idaho (well, Idaho has Boise I guess).

Definitely Eastern Washington would be a battleground of shiat hit the fan. I sincerely hope that never happens or of it does I am not here to see it.

It is confusing.

While Göring was easily the most intelligent of all the Nazi leadership, he was also the most grotesquely debauched.

I'll bet that to a one they do not know that. All they know is gleaned from a few movies and their circle jerk facebook groups glorifying anything and everything about the Third Reich. Hell, the very fact that they were utterly defeated to end WWII doesn't seem to resonate with them.

heh. Goering was not the best option to display as the idea Nazi.   He did enjoy the power and wealth it granted him and turned a blind eye to atrocities committed by the Nazi run Germany.   To boot he was addicted to Morphine.    When the Luftwaffe showed it's weaknesses caused by being organized to fulfil a singularly goal Goering fell out of favor with Hitler and was sidelined,

Himmler or Goebbels would have been a more solid choice.

So your saying that they venerate Goering for his girth?

That's one thing I don't understand about neo-Nazis; they're all just so blobby.  It's like they expect to be crowned the master race for showing up to a march on time and correctly pronouncing a few words of German.   WWII Nazis at least exercised some self-care and worked to better themselves.  There was an Aryan ideal and a putative "good" Nazi was to expend effort and become that ideal.

That and bathe regularly.  I'm not too sure modern ones do that either.

I've been saying the same thing for ages.

Hitler was a health nut, whereas the average Neo is a fat drunk.
Göring was extremely intelligent, whereas the Neos are generally high-school dropouts.
The Nazis had clear political and military goals, whereas the Neos have no coherent ideology at all beyond hatin' the blacks and Jews.

It isn't Hitler's daily pineappling that causes him the most pain these days; it's seeing those whom have tried to take up his mantle.

I couldn't think of anyone else in Stalin's circle that was both incompetent and debaucherous.  Now, as far as I know Goering wasn't a serial rapist/killer like Beria was, but you never know with the Nazi high command...

Then shiat, all they'd know about Goering would be "LMAO FAAAAAAAAAAAAT!".  It makes it make even less sense.  It's like they're trying to advertise that they sell clothing for the discerning Sturmtruppen that's a bit on the rotund side.

...shiat that makes a lot of sense, come to think of it.

aagrajag: The Nazis had clear political and military goals

That's a stretch.  They might have had clear ultimate goals, but they had no idea how to actually accomplish them and spent most of the war blundering around trying to luck out via Prussian Miracle over and over again.

Just take their plans to get oil for example.  Okay, Germany needs oil and the Caucus and Middle East have oil that's ripe for the taking, that makes perfect sense.  But they had no earthly idea how to actually DO anything with that oil once they took it.  They had no plan whatsoever to actually get oil back to Germany because they simply had no logistics capable of it, and the supply chain that it would require would be effortlessly easy to sabotage both militarily and via guerilla action.  Have fun running tanker ships (that they don't have) across the Med in the face of the Royal Navy, or keeping tanker trains (again that they don't have) and pipelines(that they have no idea how to properly build) from being blown up by Soviet partisans over the vast swathes of Ukraine.

/once you remember just how many drugs the high command was on, their lack of plans makes perfect sense

Fun fact: He was badly injured in the Beer Hall Putsch, leading to the morphine addiction which resulted in his subsequent debauchery. He was a dashing and daring pilot as part of Richthofen's Flying Circus in WWI. Morphine addiction is a mean biatch.

Something doesn't make sense from the story.

You've got this part:  The person who posted the image, Tony Zinman stated, "This portrait of Herman Goering is prominently displayed at the Army Surplus store in Wenatchee, WA (I lived there for 10 years from 96 to 07). Shows White Supremacy and Nazis alive and well in America."

Note the bolded.

And then the article ends with :  D&L Army Surplus has been in business in the Wenatchee Valley for six years.

Note the bolded as well.

If the poster was put up by the operators of the D&L Army Surplus then how would Tony Zinman know about it since he had long been gone by the time the business came around.  Or does the poster pre-date D&L Army Surplus.

Possibly way at the end of the store and also in the far right (ha a pun) corner of photograph.

The average person knows who Hitler is by sight, how many people would know it's Goering and not just any other Nazi. Granted having any Nazi displayed is trying to send a message, I guess using Goering was an attempt to be less obvious about that message rather than using Hitler. The average person wouldn't recognize Goering while a Nazi lover probably would.

Don't forget that they considered it more important to use their limited rolling stock to transport Jews to concentration camps then to actually support their armies.
