(Travel and Leisure)   This is a downtown 1 train. Next stop is 28th street. Transfer available to the speakeasy between the stairs. Expect delays in getting a reservation. Stand clear of the $17 cocktails   (travelandleisure.com) divider line

● 900-person waiting list

● small group of regulars

Pick one.

I highly doubt the 900 person waiting list. That place is in Chelsea where you'll find some of the best yet low key restaurants and bars in Manhattan. I recommend BXL Zoute. Great Belgian food and fun place on soccer game days.

Also, it's not a speakeasy if the proprietor is being interviewed in newspapers and magazines ostensibly yelling, "Hey look over here! It's a speakeasy! Sooo secret and exclusive!"

man, not sure if/when I'll ever get back to nyc in my lifetime. Les Halles shuttered some years ago, but BXL is entirely new to me!

I've only been a few times but I don't think $17 is that expensive for a cocktail in New York.

Am I wrong or do New Yorkers love just setting piles of money on fire?

I... yeah, zfc. this is exactly why you go get blitzed on the cheap in Hoboken, then spend the night passed out in some random NJ graveyard.
