(Yeah)   Matt Gaetz may have thrown counterfeit bills with his face on them at strippers. Wait. It was Usher? Well, c'mon, with all the stories lately whoo didn't think of him first?   (hot97.com) divider line

Is he nuts? That's not even a funny prank. It would be funny to throw that at a rich celebrity, but if he did that to a broke stripper, definitely not a laughing matter.

I was checking into the St. Regis in Century City around 20 years ago. Usher was checking out (well, one of his people was checking out). We chatted for a few moments. Very nice guy. Huge smile. Then he got into a Maybach and left.

That's my Usher story.

/A couple of nights later, I went to a private party where the band was The Roots

A problem with celebrities who don't know how to be famous.  They swallow that "as long as they spell your name right" line, and don't consider that they end up looking like dicks.

If he had these bills made up with his picture and gave them to the dancers for their entertainment knowing they expected the real thing, could that not be misinterpreted as passing counterfeit money? I mean the pics in the article looked like an attempt to make it realistic was made even if it was supposed to be in jest.

RTFA, the stripper is actually richer than Usher

Came here to say this. He passed those fake bills in a transaction. The USSS needs to step in.

This is my question as well.

I mean, it's technically a tip instead of a contracted payment, so it's a grey-ish area, but those grey areas tend to be decided by how much you pissed off the other party and how much of an irredeemable coont you're being in general, both of which seem to be "very much" in this case.

I don't know how much of a "transaction" it'd be considered.  If he said, "Perform your act for me and I'll pay you $1000" and tried to use those instead of legal tender, that would be one thing.  But in this case, I don't think he's considered obliged to pay, as there seems to be no set fee, nor has he set himself up as the obliged party to pay for it.  It's more akin to the asshole at the diner that "tips" by using the deceptive-looking anti-tipping tract that looks like a folded $20 bill.
If I was the Secret Service, it wouldn't be a very good use of time and money to prosecute.  Better to let the story get out like this and show him as a douchebag.

"Looks like" isn't the same as "representing itself as US currency", though.  Maybe they can forward it to their management who can redeem it for an ass-beating for Usher.

That other guy's name escapes me, but I remember the photo of him with it from his profile. Haven't seen him in what feels like years.

According to the article, he "showered them" with the fake money, or "made it rain" with fake money.

I know people can "buy" money in different denominations to rain at strip clubs (which is totally stupid) and they have money guns to make it fun. I've seen celebrities with their own money gun, I've seen movie money, and Usher has publicly posted a suitcase of his own money with his face on it.

All that said, if you see a celebrity, in any context ... ANY CONTEXT, throwing money around or shooting money from a gun ... It's probably not real money. Think about it for a second. A guy is throwing money in the air ... And they are mad it wasn't real.

I just don't understand the whole "make it rain" thing at strip clubs. Around here, strippers make their money in the back rooms not on stage.
