Mad_Radhu: Unexpected Frances McDormand full frontal nudity for the win.

Movie scared the shiat out of me because it tried painting living out of a van, shiatting in a bucket, and working seasonally for Amazon as an idyllic way to spend your twilight years. Fark that. Im putting away even more money for retirement now.

/The American Dream is a farking nightmare...

I haven't watched it. The trailers looked really pretentious.

It's the weakest of all the nominated films.

I thought the opposite. I thought it was the best of a somewhat weak year for nominees.

"Sorry, nominees. You told a great story of the inner turmoil of the Civil Rights movement in the wake of MLK's death, but a middle aged white lady shat in a bucket, which is deep for reasons."

Pretentious is not the word I would use; it isn't exactly post 1967 Godard. It's a very good movie; my biggest complaint is actually with the decision to play soft piano music during an emotional monologue. But other than that, it is not at all a typical Hollywood film or art house film.

I suspect all the awards have raised expectations a bit to high and if was just a small film that was barely on the radar more people would enjoy it rather than comparing it to better films.

Promising young woman is a lot of fun, but only if you're willing to turn your brain off because a lot of it doesnt make a lick of sense.

Great revenge-porn thriller, and strangely funny as hell at times, and everyone in it is fantastic. But you reeeaaaalllyy have to avoid thinking about it too deeply.
