"As for those late-night shows we're supposed to compete against: Why bother? Who do they offend?"

So... he thinks offending people is a requirement? Why am I not surprised?

2021-04-12 8:21:25 AM
I haven't watched it and have no intention of doing but since there is no conservative humor -- and certainly not on Fox News -- that does not involve punching down at the less powerful or elevating white aggrievement and victimhood, I can say with absolute, 100 percent certainty that yes, it is as bad as I think it is.

"They've got the market cornered in calling Americans stupid."

Based on the alleged comedy of the show, he thinks Americans are pretty damned stupid himself.

2021-04-12 8:31:24 AM
I mean, at least Fox is making a transition into legit farce.

2021-04-12 8:54:09 AM
I don't understand why the Republicans hate welfare so much when they give people like that a job.

2021-04-12 9:04:03 AM
It's just more hate propaganda from the fascist channel.

2021-04-12 9:10:48 AM
It might not be as bad as I think it is, it's probably worse

Conservatives don't understand dumb and mean isn't funny.

They don't understand this bc they're dumb and mean.

2021-04-12 9:36:50 AM
Nah Gutfeld can keep f*cking off until it's no longer possible to do so.

Giant Clown Shoe: Conservatives don't understand dumb and mean isn't funny.

They don't understand this bc they're dumb and mean.

I've always held that I can work with folks who are nice, yet dumb, as well as folks who are mean yet smart.

I have no truck with the mean AND dumb.

Truth... though there is a slim exception for the very attractive.

They should try an MTV format and just do a clip show with 3 conservative celebrities making jokes about viral videos.

Oh, the Monday Slate unsubscribe reminder.

2021-04-12 9:42:38 AM
Gutfeld thinks he's being funny when he is being mean. He is a sad little man who could never back up the bluster he puts out every broadcast. He is the epitome of an internet tough guy.

2021-04-12 9:44:34 AM
Gutfield is that guy in high school who didn't know what a good joke was, so he would just insult someone horribly, then wonder why no one was laughing and accuse us all of having no sense of humor.

"Hey, wanna hear a joke? Your mom is an alcoholic whore......the end. Why aren't you guys laughing? That was hilarious! YOU ALL ARE DUMB!"

2021-04-12 9:44:39 AM
Honestly, Fox would get more enthusiastic viewers during that slot if they just showed reruns of The Honeymooners. At least then people might actually laugh.

Gutfeld and Gaetz?

2021-04-12 9:45:41 AM
I'd think the only thing worse than watching it would be reading about someone's experience watching it.

No thanks.

2021-04-12 9:48:51 AM
Saw a couple of clips of this show - unfunny and boring

2021-04-12 9:48:53 AM
"And if you did the math, then the answer was clear: that misanthropic libertarian Greg Gutfeld may well be America's last best hope for fearless late-night TV."

2+2=POTATO

2021-04-12 9:48:58 AM
Read a few Mike Huckabee "humor" tweets first.

Then you'll see that while Greg Gutfield is still as unfunny as shiat, he at least has a rudimentary knowledge on how to construct a joke.

2021-04-12 9:49:34 AM
Overall, it sounds like Gutfeld might average about a single tweet's worth of snicker-grade material per show. Maybe the NewsHounds could take their slogan seriously and retweet that one thing to save everyone else time.

FTA: I find Gutfeld legitimately amusing when he is speaking off the cuff, riffing inappropriately about sex or drugs or religion

I'd rather listen to old George Carlin routines again instead.

I've been killing it with my conservative humor routine.  Check out these jokes.

1.  Gay guys sure are gay.
2.  Thanks, Obama.
3.  Check out this poor guy.  Look at how poor he is.

"They've got the market cornered in calling Americans stupid. To them, it was never about Trump. It's Trump voters. It's not about guns, but gun owners. It's not just about destroying statues, it's anyone who thinks math is real. It's not the issue, it's the easy targets. Meaning you," said Gutfeld, speaking directly to his Trump-voting, gun-owning, math-positive viewers.

I keep trying to deconstruct that sentence. "anyone who thinks math is real" is that a virus survivability rate joke?

The first two are it's not X it's Y. But that sentence is It's NOT JUST X it's ALSO (X or Y I can't tell if math is a positive or negative in this sentence).

No freaking doubt

Promised to try. Did try. Made it five minutes (or so) in.

This is very typical "That guy fawns more than a herd of deer."

He's not clever. I get my Fark-level wordplay on Fark, in the unlikely event I need it.

Colbert is dad rock. Kimmel is performative Hollywood. And they're both better.

But he is totally in Fallon's league as a comedian.

The late night shows he's delusional enough to think he's competing against offend conservatives all the time. That's why his show exists. Because they can't stand smart liberals calling out their stupidity.

This is the perfect encapsulation of this site. I've never seen this show, and I refuse to watch it or experience it in anyway, but I know it's terrible because reasons.

Gutfield has repeatedly proven himself to be a worthless trash-monster. We have no need to watch him do it again under the banner of a new show. I don't need to get back together with my ex to re-learn that she is a crazy pile of nightmare. I trust the first 2 times. The same with Gutfield and his show, especially when he openly says it's going to be like his previous show but even more over the top.

He wants to turn it into a running gag like Jon Stewart slamming Arby's.

This is very true. My father (RIP, Pops) and his wife were fox news viewers and in bed by 9, every night. He's going to slay in the 80-90 year old, "Oops, I forgot to turn off the TV last night and fell asleep with it on," demographic.

While I look forward too seeing Chapo Trap House talk about this (mostly because Felix is hilarious), I've seen other left-wing podcasters talk about it and they are just awful. Hey, Sam Seder...pacing is important. You don't need five minutes to tell people that the show is bad. As any writer will tell you: Show, not tell
