I stopped after a couple of seasons. It was interesting to find out about "lost" civilizations and archaeological sites, but  David Childress....damn, bro.
Tune out the alien stuff and it can be OK.
Maybe I'll make that a project, like Garfield without Garfield.

Not checked the link, but if he is old enough he should have made the conclusion about these people before the show was even proposed. This garbage has been around for a while. It is a combination of people not being able to imagine solutions that don't use modern technology and believing that ancient people were stupid especially if they were not white.

Ancient people had the math and the imagination, also the necessary animal and human (slave) power
to get the job done.

I stopped taking all of the ancient astronaut theories seriously when I thought about the Brooklyn Bridge.
That bridge was the last thing built in this country without any of the modern technologies we use in building now.
Also I'm thinking about construction feats like Notre Dame, which took generations to complete.
(no aliens, no exotic energy sources, no tractor beams)

You are looking at civilizations that peaked and collapsed and the descendants of the builders all long dead, and only the low tech new arrivals that wouldn't have a clue about millennia old ruins.

/what's most annoying about this dopey "woo-hoo" is that the actual events surrounding these monuments
are much more interesting.

If the construction was complex, the majority of human power would have been skilled labor. Records, when they exist, tend to mention this.

More recent history is full of examples that show slave labor is the lowest quality of labor that construction can employ.

I've only seen a few episodes but they would also lie about the timelines. They'll say some site is X years old and then point to some much newer construction as anachronistic as though places are only inhabited for a single moment and then abandoned forever.

There are also religious people I know who use this as part of their anti-science agenda, pretending that the people making these claims are scientists while ignoring the very brief appearances of real scientists on the show who only have enough time to superficially refute the bullshiat.

How the hell did they get sixteen seasons of content out of this crap?

For some of these kooks racism is most emphatically a motivation though I won't say it is the motivation for all of them. Now that I watched the video, for the producers of this show: if it moves it is aliens, if it does not move it is aliens, if it is fill in the blank it is aliens. This suggests that show is more about being hacks extracting money from stupid people. But the ancient astronauts cult that this show is exploiting has a strong racism component.

To support your point, the Egyptians had very good farms thanks to seasonal flooding from the Nile and good irrigation.  It made the country very rich as it often fed foreign nations in addition to their own. The workers tended the farms during the planting through harvest. At times of the year which workers were not needed at the farm, they were employed on what we would today call public works.

/And if slaves built the pyramids, they would have never lasted so long as well if I was a slave I'd have no incentive to do such a good job. They'd probably last just long enough for me not to be whipped. No they were done right. It is almost like it was a religious observance.

I don't believe that aliens capable of interstellar travel would bother with us. There would have to be millions of better places to visit. I watch these shows to remind me that absolute genius is not a recent phenomena, and that one of mankind's greatest tragedies was the burning of the library at Alexandria.
