Their big fear is what now?

fta: "...Trump's "own political group will cannibalize a significant portion of the party's financial base heading into a critical midterm election cycle."

Huh, that is actually my big hope.

Weird, right?

Basically they are afraid their propagandized astro-turfed "grassroots" will continue to give money to pay off Trump's mounting legal bills rather than to elect elect Rs in the midterms..

Sucks to be them.

I wonder if we are ever going to reach a point where businesses determine that, perhaps, it's time to donate to people that the MAJORITY of Americans agree with, rather than continue to give money to people like 45**.

Because at some point, they are going to notice that they are throwing their money down a rabbit hole.  And, actually, judging by TFA saying that they are worried about 45** siphoning off donations, maybe they are already noticing that.

Impeached twice, thrown off social media for incitement, behaves like an asshole at every possible opportunity, but no, he might steal more of the money we are trying to grift! That is way more important.

I still don't understand why people donate money to a self-professed billionaire. It would be like donating money to a Bloomberg campaign. Farking why?

That's gotta be a given since by doing it at Grifts-A-Million donors are already lining his pockets.

This isn't hard, if you want to limit his influence you cut him off financially.  You'll eat a cycle or two of losses, but once he's gone you're back to PA, WI, and MI being competitive.

I don't think he really listens.  Maybe just enough to make a binary decision about whether the speaker is talking about him or not.  Regardless, he's mostly just waiting for an opportunity to do the verbal equivalent of that sh*tty handshake he used to do, and take control of the conversation and make it about him or *more* about him (or whatever topic he's focused on).

Now come on, I don't think former Republican President Donald Trump would do a crass thing like THAT, would he?

It's not like he'll look out at a crowd of Republican donors with their checkbooks in hand and suddenly decide to go off message and get greedy.

Granted most of the old white (R)epugnants will soon die off, but they truly have no conception how history will record them. Just as the name Benedict Arnold is synonymous for treason, so too will their names be for cowardice, betrayal, and corruption. McConnel will be the face of corruption for generations to come. But what do they care, the rubes voted for them, they were able to grift freely, and consumed power and money they never actually earned.

There's your albatross.  Until the people who thought Trump was a good idea stop voting in the primaries you will continue to have a Trump (and derp) problem.  And from the above he took over the primary in July.  2012 had a parade of "not Romney" candidates to choose from, but the party locked in on Trump early.

Whether they can get rid of Trump or not, they have primary voters who want Trumpism.  And that isn't going away no matter how they package their "message".

When you can't beat off for a week because you've been out-muscled in a handshake, you tend to learn to stop doing that shiat.
