If you get me a classic Alfa Romeo from the late 1960s I might well drive it.

1996?  I'd already owned 3 cars by that point.

I used to drive a 1964 VW Beetle convertible.  It was kinda fun, but you weren't going anywhere very fast. That beast of a 1200cc, 40 hp machine could hit maybe 63 mph down a vertical mineshaft, with a tailwind.  I used to use a brick for cruise control on the interstate.  No seatbelts, either.  Finding reverse on an old VW manual transmission was an art form.

I actually miss that car.

But if we're only counting introductory years, I could live with a 64 1/2 Mustang very nicely.

Celiac? I like those cars, too ... Except the often colonic color options

Hmmm... A car from 1950? At least I wouldn't have to get it smog checked every year. Although finding leaded gasoline for it might be a bit of a challenge.

MaudlinMutantMollusk: I'd learn to live with it
[i.pinimg.com image 850x550]

CSB time: Growing up my dad (obviously) had a '56. Daily driver. Black on black w/ the 3 speed manual and overdrive. Ragtop in the attic. He had a stroke when I was 15 in '79 and sold it b/c he couldn't work the clutch pedal any more. Told me when I was 17 "If I knew you liked that car I would have let you have it." Bastard.  :D
He passed in '89 and a few years later I found the plate and frame stuffed in an old box of crap. Had them framed and they've been hanging with pride ever since.  BTW, they're crooked in the picture frame b/c it fell off the wall a few years ago.

Great. I get a Toyota Corolla. Never mind that the Camaro, Valiant and wicked European sports cars were also released that same year I was born. I'll end up with a Carolla.
