"...she talked about how it changed her world and she was getting nastygrams on Facebook and they can't go to their country club or wherever," said Judge Ruth.

Boo hoo, and my compliments to the judge on the deft burn.

"But I have yet to see any expression of regret about the impact it had on the victim in this case."

Glad he sees right through Ms. Hunter's Poor Wittle Me I Got Caught kabuki. I hope misery and alienation follow her for a long time.

Yeah the max was like 60 days or some shiat.

I personally think she should have done the max both fine and time. Possibly with some completely humiliating community service like washing the windows of every publix while wearing a shirt that says, "Maskless coughing MAGAT moron"

She should have been given community service as well and have to spend at least a year volunteering in a cancer ward. Or better yet, a hospice. Let's see how she feels after watching people die of that terrible illness.

I remember when this story was first reported.

30 Days In Jail For Intentionally Coughing On Cancer Patient

So 30 days for attempted murder.

Seems to me stand your ground could have applied and the cancer patient could have blasted the plague rat to hell and she would have deserved it.

Well, maybe 1/20th of what she deserves, but given that she's a Kountry Klub Karen, even this is a pleasant surprise.

If she has no empathy for others, no amount of suffering is going to make her grow any. She'd just be one more thing the patients in those hospitals would have to endure, and that wouldn't be fair to them.

Good.  You acted in a hideous fashion that could have killed someone.  You SHOULD BE social pariahs.

I'm  not saying coughing on someone isn't an asshole move that shouldn't be punished, but is it really a crime? Don't you need to prove harm in some kind of way?  Or do they consider that general threatening of someone?

Something like this shouldn't be jail time. But maybe a couple days in the stocks out in front of the courthouse were people can walk up and cough and fart on them might change their tune.

True. I guess that's why she's being evaluated. Gotta see if she truly is a sociopath.

Pretty light sentence for attempted murder.  She should count her blessings and STFU.

If someone were to find a firearm on the ground and point it at an officeholding Republican politician and pull the trigger, would they receive a similar penalty?  It seems that they should as there's no reasonable cause to expect an abandoned firearm to be loaded, or even functional.  After all, the Republican Doctrine Of Personal Responsibility and its corollary of Responsible Gun Ownership dictate that no loaded gun will ever be left unsecured, ergo no reasonable expectation of injury exists regarding abandoned firearms as there's no reason to expect an abandoned firearm to ever be loaded.

Only thing I can think of is price matching stuff like some stores do. Some places will refund the difference if an item is cheaper within 30 days of purchase.

I worked in retail for years and I've seem some pretty wackadoo return attempts, but I've never seen someone attempt to return something they don't have in their possession. I don't know how they think they will convince any clerk to go along with that.

Refusal is one thing.   It presumes that you don't believe in COVID.   Misdemeanor unless you start shiat with the manager, etc.    Intentionally coughing on someone presumes that you do believe in it and are trying to harm someone else.   It is attempted manslaughter and should be treated as such in courts.

I think she'd be better served as a guinea pig for chemo treatments. Then she can really feel cancer patients' pain.

I hadn't heard about this woman until just now. Christ, what a terrible person. This is beyond Karen territory. There's a word for women like this. It's a word I have seldom used, even though I curse like a sailor, but in this case it is warranted. Wow.

At Pier 1 I dunno, but it's not unreasonable to do this for groceries. A piece of meat or a fruit tray that was spoiled upon opening, for example - take a photo and go to the store. I don't do this often but Costco has never had a problem with it. They certainly don't want rotted food back in the store.

So maybe not a "return" per se but more of a "I wasn't 100% satisfied" thing.

I don't think it shows she believes in Covid. It's a childish act of spite directed at someone else who believes. It's a double-ended-dildo dick move of "I'm doing this because I know it bothers you" coupled with "Oh look, nothing immediately happened so that proves your beliefs are dumb and I'm super smart". It's the same schoolyard bully mentality as someone who'd think it's hilarious to fling raw bacon at an orthodox rabbi.

Her ignorance doesn't excuse the seriousness of the act itself, of course, because unlike her value to society, Covid actually exists.

Because, unlike Buck v. Bell they used Jacobson v. Massachusetts last year in Texass to block abortions. That means conservative politicians must think the law is a peach, and enforceable, so line up for your vaccine.

Also comparing vaccination to eugenics / forced sterilization of people is the definition of both moving the goalposts and a strawman argument. I mean, really, troll better.

Oh c'mon. Half of fark wants to murder plague rats and republicans. I would have thought forced sterilization would be a step in the right direction!

Anyway, I don't see any forced vaccinations happening in today's USA, unfortunately. When we have full FDA authorization, I can see many workplaces requiring them, but I can assure you, even that won't stop many anti-vaxxers. There will always be the religious exception.
