Sen. McConnell is watching the Democrats thwart his obstructionist tactics, now threatening to undo his attack on the judiciary. Everything that Mitch McConnell has done to the country could be wiped away by Joe Biden and Democrats in Congress.

Can we dispell the myth that McConnel was ever some crafty tactical master?

Everything he did was a drastic desperate attempt to accomplish some short sited goal.  That any of it ever worked was more about him being allowed to get away with it, than any kind of clever plan.

McConnel was never Machiavelli.  He was Beattle Bailey stumbling through failures that him to this exact moment.

He was good at saying no and the Democrats let him.   He got very lucky when the last president was elected, and that made him look smart.

I'd argue that the Kochs did a ton of damage, to be sure, but McConnell did things just to be a gaping, prolapsed asshole. He wasn't motivated to earn higher profits and push his share prices higher, but purely for the stiggnit. Example:

Since he set Trump as his minion to stuff the courts, they might actually do more damage than the Kochs just because they want to cause liberals pain.

There were two instances that directly should have been checked by the system of checks and balances that was supposed to prevent those events from happening.  Garland and ACB both.

The first because it was against the rules and unconstitutional, the second because it was the exact opposite of the rules that he had just set as a result of the first.

Neither one of them should have been allowed to happen.  And let's not forget judge kegstand who's appointment was only available because some judge was forced to retire early, and we still don't know how coercing a judge to retire is legal either.

And if the only way we can right those wrongs now is to expand the court, then so be it.  At least that is completely legal.

BTW: I find it bothersome as hell when GOP use the term "stacking the court", while insisting that they have never stacked the court themselves.  Yes.  Yes, you DID stack the court, you farking hypocrites.

2021-04-10 7:25:51 AM
This is simple. When to courts were first apportioned, there were only 9 circuit courts, so they appointed nine judges - simple logic.
Now, there are thirteen circuit courts, and I would think that all these conservative constructionalists and originalists who think Constitutional law should be kept in it's original, pristine form would INSIST on expanding the courts to match - but for some weird reason, they don't want to do it.
I guess the trick is to change your reasoning to fit the circumstances.

Once upon a time, Mitch demanded that there be some more tax cuts for the rich, claiming that they would only be temporary and they would go back to normal levels once the tax cut period.

Then, as the tax cuts were about to expire, Mitch went in front of the cameras to claim that the Democrats were plotting to raise taxes, and demanded that those tax cuts for the rich be made permanent.

This is how Mitch McConnell operates. This is who he is.

The real prize needs to be the district and appeals courts he loaded up with partisan assbags in their 30s.

Those district lines were set by Congress and there is nothing unconstitutional about Congress changing a law passed by Congress. And there definitely isn't a law requiring judges to hear a minimum number of cases.

"Welcome to the 174th circuit court of appeals, Judge Needledick. It's 40 square feet in the Sonoran Desert. You will sit here, 10 hours a day, 5 days a week, and handle all cases that originate within your jurisdiction. If you look to the north, you can see Judge Dickweasel in the 173rd circuit court of appeals. Do this for the next 40 years or retire anytime."

I don't want Mitch to die. I want him to live long enough to see the nation utterly reject his life's work while he impotently flails and whines about it.

I want him to live so the weight of the realization he's been a total bastard for absolutely nothing sits with him for a few years before he goes to hell.

I don't even believe in heaven or hell but I'll make an exception for him because oblivion is too good for him.

I'm happy to know that barring some kind of accident or unknown health issue, I am going to be alive to see a lot of these assholes be dead. Granted, seeing actual consequences for all of the shiat they've done would be nice, but at least it's something.

Hey Mitch, here's an idea:

Why don't you go f*ck yourself?

2021-04-10 8:07:38 AM
This Congress should :

1. Pass a new Judiciary bill, adding Four Supreme Court Justices. ( Preferably, all under 40)
2. Admit DC, Puerto Rico and Guam as states
3. Give American Samoa its independence in free association with the US
4. Pass a new Merchant Marine act exempting Insular states from registry limitations on cabotage.
5. Remove the Board of Governors of the United States Postal service and make the Postmaster General a Cabinet position again, with the requirement that it must be drawn from staff of the USPS.

What IS is life's work? Retaining as much power and money for himself at everyone else's expense?  Being the best at the evil politician game? They aren't going to be putting up any monuments for you for that.
