Of their examples of Lucas taking ideas... My thought is, if you put Star Wars into my head and showed me these pictures out of context would I immediately connect them to the franchise.

The gold bikini and the carbonite, sure, I'll give you those two just off the pictures.
The probe droid? Possibly?  It's similar enough that it can be taken that way.
The Falcon? Umm... No. I don't see it.  Wow, we have a disc shaped spacecraft, you know like a flying saucer. The two crafts, at least in the pictures don't even look close enough alike to make the confusion.

I thought the Bea Arthur bit was the best of the program.  It actually approaches real emotion which is kind of a rarity in Star Wars.

The probe droid is literally Moebius. Lucas asked to use the design.

While that may be true, I was going by the pictures, as I stated.

There were a couple of yellow and orange surveillance droids seen floating in the cartoon. The animation studio Nevalna reused that character for their own holiday special, which is a bit more watchable.

I mean, the Millennium Falcon was literally a flying saucer design with a b-52 canopy and a satellite dish grafted on to it, the fact that it looked like a Moebius flying saucer is pure bullshiat, they're both just 40's style flying saucers.

Maybe a B-29 canopy.

I remember that fondly from my childhood. For the longest time, I never knew anyone else who had even heard of it. If not for the internet, I would have thought I dreamed it.

The cartoon looks a little like an extra bit from Heavy Metal, to the point it looks like Leia and 3PO might do some boning

I love Star Wars.  Like, I wanted to audition to be the "Star Wars Geek" on "Beat the Geeks" (go ask your dad, I'll wait)

But the Holiday Special is one of those things that is so bad it's not even enjoyable ironically.

I have a copy and I still can't watch it again.  It's one of those Star Wars things I own simply to own.

/The Ewoks movies are enjoyable and I love me some Droids cartoon!  Where are my Droids cartoons!?!?!

Been said many times, but Rifftrax is the only way to survive it.

But yeah, the cartoon was pretty fun and easily the highlight. Bea Arthur giving it her all was at least amusing for awhile, even if you had to endure the guy drinking out of his head.
