Of course they are, was there any doubt that they would flip? Once they figure out this is real and they're not going to be able to whine or buy their way out of it they're all going to be going by Flipper.

Confused? You won't be on the next episode of "DOPE"

Is someone afraid of being locked up with "those people"? I hope even the flippers still do a few years in max security so they can get a front row look at the hell they are so eager to impose on others.

I honestly don't see what flipping anyone is going to accomplish. The Proud Boys aren't a particularly intelligent organization. I don't think they have the capability to organize and plan a complex agenda outside of "Everyone cosplay as a terrorist at this place on this date". I don't believe their leadership is some kind of diabolical mastermind. I think the prosecutors are going to try their best to build up a case that they're some kind of domestic terrorist organization, but I have difficulty believing that any judge or jury is going to be convinced that they're little more than "impassioned defenders of what they believe in". I think we'll see some of them do a few years in prison, but nobody's going to get a maximum sentence outside of maybe the people who brought zip cuffs for the planned taking of hostages. I don't think they'll be able to make any serious charges stick to the leadership of the Proud Boys. They're all just too farking dumb to be taken seriously as a threat.

Depends on how far up the tree they want to shake the branches, I guess - because i have a strong suspicion that you will find communication between Stone and them. And where you find Stone, you find bulls***

I am not surprised at all. Most of these guys didn't really comprehend what they were doing. Oh, I am not defending or justifying anything, nor pushing for leniency. But I believe most of them felt like they were in a crowd and what they were doing was "ok" in some sense. Just look at the morans who posted to Instagram INSIDE the Capitol, only to delete it all the next day when the magnitude hit them.

They're not going to jail for a year to protect the other morans in their group. They'll sing all day long to avoid it. I would.

You're on the fence about this, are you?

Fantasize with me a moment, if you will. This proud boy flips on his leaders. His leaders, having no cover anymore, they flip too. His leaders happens to have had direct communications from Trump minions, and somebody was boneheaded enough to have recorded it as a trophy....

/   We've seen this scenario play out before, more than once.
//   And this time, Mitch and Barr are completely out of play.

They drank hard and deep of the Kool-Aid.  They need to be prosecuted with the same vigor that was used with Manson's gang.  That said, it still leaves part of the original problem that feed them a steady supply of Kool-Aid:  media (supposed "news" outlets) and social media.  Trump was the darling to these outlets.  He generated page-clicks which allowed said outlets to sell advertising.  Note that with Biden in office, these places (mainly the "news" outlets are STILL peddling Trump.  They want that juicy cashflow and thus far have not been reprimanded for their behavior.  Biden is not generating clicks and thus they are not selling ad space.  Integrity in journalism is a thing of the past and said outlets will continue their peddling of propaganda, misinformation and outright lies until it is not profitable for them to do so.
Hopefully, Dominion sets a good precedence with their suits.

They have to have toilet paper. Maybe they don't keep it out in the open to keep other prisoners from taking it. But come on, they have to let these people wipe their asses. That would cause severe sanitary conditions in the jail. You can't have people leaving skid marks on every surface they sit on

Take them seriously as a threat

/A dumb threat can easily do as much damage as a smart one.

I agree if you limit the information to who trespassed in the Capitol. But a criminal gang like the Proud Boys is going to be host to a smorgasbord of federal crimes. The first one that comes to mind is firearms offenses--anyone who has a felony conviction commits a federal crime by so much as picking up a firearm, and my guess is that someone who knows lots of gang members probably knows who has lots of guns at their house. Fraud is another one; credit card fraud and stealing checks seems to be a favorite of white supremacists, especially those who are into meth. Drugs is another one, and while I don't give a damn about people using drugs, the feds are going to care. I imagine someone in the know could probably help federal prosecutors make some random obstruction of justice cases, like harboring fugitives, accessory after the fact, lying to federal agents, etc.

So if you want to go after the gang that stormed the Capitol, you don't have to limit your investigation into just storming the Capitol and you can take a big chunk out of their numbers.

I can't even pretend to be shocked, I'll be more shocked if we see serious consequences for more than a token amount of them.

Yeah... most likely right.  One of my co-workers subscribes to this particular brand of inane thinking, and he really ISN'T the brightest bulb.  He... actually thinks lizard people are real.  And that the Jews have a giant space laser.  As a Jew, I gotta tell ya... we don't.  But, of course, that may be what we WANT you to think!

In all seriousness, he collects firearms like crazy, makes his own ammo, and his favorite movie is Red Dawn.  He's a nut.   He is under the impression that Antifa will come to his property (literally in the middle of nowhere), and besiege him.  Its sad, and hilarious, at the same time.  Like pathos, but squared by human frailty and general inability to keep a rational and reasonable viewpoint.
