Exactly, not really a building, more like a cluster of stairs and windows piled on top of a concrete base.

So he figured out if he could buy off New York, New Jersey and Florida officials, buying off Chicago officials would be a breeze.

Need to look at Panama too. The new owner is suing him currently because all the sales materials were lies. The building existed to launder drug profits from the cartels. Russian money too of course.

I have a friend who's father bought a 1 bedroom unit there when they went on sale pre-construction. So he put his 15 or 20% down and signed his contracts. A few months later, I guess the demand was higher than expected, so they sent him a letter stating that they were canceling his contract because of a miscalculation in demand and he could bid for another unit at the new price, which was a lot more.

So he had his lawyer send them a letter stating that if they did not honor the original contract he would sue them. They went back and forth for a few months, then they finally caved and sold him the unit at the original price.

I'm in a great food town, but not known for pizza. I frequently lean back in my chair and watch you guys argue about it.

All non-pizza cities have some nice pizzerias owned by transplants but man you all take it very seriously. And humorously. I'm just beer drunk and want a pie.

Just like a Trump business to not understand what a contract is.

Same here. Grew up on New Mexican cuisine. Stuff that will melt your tongue if you're brave enough. Hearing people argue about who has better pizza crust is like watching grass grow . . . in the desert.

From the article:

"The New York Times, which obtained Trump's taxes, said the forgiven debts showed up in Trump's tax returns as cancelled debts. The Times wrote that Trump took advantage of a law enacted after the 2008 financial crisis that allowed companies to spread out income from cancelled debts over several years."

Way to bury this at the bottom... makes the whole article kind of pointless.

Italian hot beef sandwiches in Chicago are farking amazing. They are stupid simple, but I still have not found one that matches up.

Is there a legal difference between forgiven and cancelled?

What sucks is that is an otherwise fairly pretty building, if not for the garish sign. It isn't spectacular but I like the roundness of it, which stands out against the more angular lines of the rest of the skyline.

/And real Chicago pizza is the thin crispy tavern style crust which is freaking amazing

I was amused when the Scottish government told him to f* k right off with his plans to be there January 19, 2021.

Now I wonder, why ever would Trump want to flee the country the day before Biden's inauguration...

Anyway, they told him no. And although they cited COVID as the reason, he was the president of the United States, exceptions could've been made.
Scotland... does not want Trump back on Scottish soil.

IIRC, the issue is jurisdiction.   The courts held that the crown prosecutor is the one who should proceed, not the legislature.

Anyway, I hope they find a pretext to seize it and let sheep graze on it.  Turn the buildings into something useful.

Speaking as someone who lives close enough to Chicago to have an opinion on the pizza argument, it's not taken anywhere near as seriously as something like vi vs. emacs. There's a place in Gold Coast that sells NY style pizza, and plenty of drunk Chicago douchebags will happily order from them.

I don't even particularly mind Chicago style, I simply have an undying love of mocking the absolute shiat out of it. but yeah nothing in my tiny personal universe could ever surpass NYC - it's just hardwired, brain-tape since small-times.

Fark being Fark, lately I am more and more lusting after Detroit style, but I've yet to discover any in Philadelphia.

I actually don't mind NY, Chicago or Detroit style pizzas. I just really enjoy the sniping that occurs every time a thread takes a turn into this territory.
