For republicans to decide that trumpism is a dead end, they will need to lose a lot of elections, and lose them repeatedly. You'll never convince the die-hard cultists, but no actual conservative has any excuse for voting in even token support of a trumpster candidate.

They're going to have to go scorched earth on their own party, and make it hurt. Teach it a lesson through punishment. Rub their noses in it until they get a clue.

If they have an (R) after their name, they're lying. Absolutely do not believe a single thing they say. I don't know what'd it take for them to prove they're being truthful, but their word definitely is not good by itself.

Democracy is just a Greek word for Camelot.

American Democracy has never been so sabotaged by so many in media and government and politics and business.  They're coming out of the woodwork and not hiding their disgust with democracy any more.

Pro democracy by supporting a Russian coddling fraud that tried to overturn every election he lost.

These are the Republicans who, apparently, are able to read. The rest, who can't, have never been able to read a transcript of anything Dump's actually said on camera. If they did, they'd see that he makes GWB look like Winston Churchill.

/ of course, if they could read, it would only reinforce their twisted beliefs

No such thing. To be pro-democracy might be to realize that the actual majority of Americans hate republican policies, that they cannot win without cheating, and would also mean working with, and allowing democratic party ideas to succeed once in a while. Republicans are only interested in republicans keeping power. They are fascists, terrorists and utterly opposed to democracy in all of its forms. fark republicans. They can die mad.

The problem is that conservativism is intellectually, economically, morally and ethically incorrect. In order to sustain American democracy and advance as a nation, there needs to be a way to get them to admit that without becoming terrorists.

So... good luck!

They need to become Democrats and vote for Democrats who are in favor of broadly popular ideas (like 15 dollar minimum wage) and against the more divisive left ideas and then the Republicans get humiliated out of existence and the Democrats splinter to a party where these never trumpers want to be and a party where Bernie and AOC are in the middle.

Republicans who believed in traditional Reaganite principles

Reaganite principles such as making surreptitious deals with hostile countries to aid in an election, massive income inequality, tax cuts for the wealthy, unconstitutional wars, selling arms to terrorists to fund unconstitutional wars, lying to congress, installing unqualified conies, disregarding and downplaying the spread of a highly infectious virus, neglect of the environment, and more!

It's Mourning in America.

Yeah, that makes sense. It is people who change their minds who evolve into better people, who embrace the truth instead of lies and delusions.

People who never change their minds are worse that fools, they are often willful scoundrels and con artists.

Another one is Jonah Goldberg, who wrote the book "Liberal Fascism" was 180degrees off, in other words just like Bill Kristol who both gave us Sarah Palin, and is now a never Trumper. NRO is trying to sit between to stools.
Interesting that this BS in the GOP happened before during the '64 campaign, and it was Wm Farking Buckley founder of the NRO, who told Goldwater Conservatives, in no uncertain terms, to fuq'off.

Remember the first time anybody in the media said Reagan was non compos mentis, senile, a Alzheimer Syndrome case?

I was wondering if he was gaga before he was shot, damn it. His meandering moralizing misrememberings of old movies and things that never happened led me to think of senile dementia long before any media, political or medical person had the guts to propose this in the public record. He was out of office when they did, I am almost sure. But look at the facts, not the contents of my memory.

They'll just focus on areas of mutual agreement in the short term. Concern about the national debt, the hated 'cancel culture', and whether Joe Biden is the most liberal president ever or just a closet socialist.

Well, I can't foresee that. I am not a clairevoyant. But the question was more rhetorical than literal. You could remember this as history or a record, if not personal experience, eh?

maybe exponential lies would be a better phrase.

Oh. The author didn't mean lies like hyperbolas but lies full of hyperbole - excessive exaggeration.

Do t worry about it man; I just enjoy giving y'all a hard time.

But yeah, I don't know when the first murmurings of Reagan's mental decline started occurring. My impression is that it happened while late into his office, and they kinda kept it a state secret until they couldn't anymore.

I fully expect in a few years, we're gonna get official confirmation of the obvious, and somebody is gonna come out and say Trump was a deranged lunatic.
