I seem to remember a early popular website for posting 'funny things' had the owner visited by the FBI to get the IP tracing info and logs of a certain user that was posting death threats to the president on the website. As HA HA HA...and he (Owner)  turned over the logs and IP's. And started moderating the boards.
The FBI and CIA do not do snark.

Way back in the 1970s I had a housemate from Ghana.  His name was Francis, and his favorite TV show was FBI.  One day a couple FBI Agents stopped by, looking for someone who used to live there.  Francis answered the door and was utterly thrilled to be speaking with real live FBI Agents, who were probably very puzzled by this very large Black guy acting like a child meeting Santa Claus.

If the CIA is visiting your house, you can sue thee shiat out of them, since they aren't allowed to operate inside the US.  The FBI is in charge of assassinating progressives and other pro-democracy types inside the US - the CIA assassinates progressives and pro-democracy types in other countries.

Thanks for clearing that Up. For a second there I thought I was saying the CIA visted the guy....Oh no, I did not.
And still the CIA don't have a sense of humor either. And good luck suing the CIA, Mister Minotaur.

Yeah, I actually have concerns with this practice:

1. Quit lying to us, FBI. This is farking intimidation, pure and simple.
2. Intimidation is not always a bad approach. The feds seem to be doing the right thing in this dangerous and complicated situation.
3. I don't trust the FBI to have the good judgement to avoid using intimidation tactics when it's very much the wrong thing to do.

Cynic time: If these far-right extremists were brown or black, as soon as they appeared on the FBI radar, the FBI would have a plan to commit entrapment on them, and ship them off to gitmo without a trial. But it's a couple of white dudes? Send an agent for a friendly chat and do little else.

The FBI's ability to surveil American citizens and build domestic terrorism dossiers on them is tightly restricted by laws and regulations enacted in the post-Watergate era.

Hey now, the FBI entraps white dudes all the time if they are leftists! Luckily, these fine racists aren't into "environmentalism" or "anti-war" nonsense, so the FBI won't have to make up a reason to send them to prison forever.

I wonder what's different about these cases compared to her situation.

Look at the faces of these pinheads as they're busting through the doors. In their Neanderthal peabrains, they actually believed that laws don't apply to them and once they got into the building, Trump would magically become God-Emperor forever & they automatically win, like it was video game where they've capped the Point.

But then when they got inside, when nothing happened, watch them wandering around like zombies not knowing WTF to do next besides steal stuff and smear their feces on the walls. It was like a dog not knowing that to do when it finally catches the car. Thankfully, Steve Bannon wasn't around to step in at that moment to give further instructions.

If they're doing that, they almost certainly have probable cause to be tapping every phone and internet connection at the residence.

This is operation "see who THIS domestic terrorist will talk to after we rattle its cage." And if they attempt to flee, that goes to establishing a guilty mind.

My dad actually had to talk to the FBI over his job. Not for reason that you're thinking. He forgot to close a port and some asshole was using it to bounce off of when hacking. Or something like that. He was asked to bring a copy of the logs to the branch office. He said they were fellow tech nerds, just with Federal Badges.

Maybe they could visit the last minute trump appointees to the dod and the nsa.  I hear there was a hesitancy to first see how the attack was going before committing to stop it.

On their conviction of treason they could rest assured that the firing squad would stand down at the last minute since their reprieve would arrive four hours late.

I've worked with their Crimes Against Children unit in Vegas. They're techies, but the nature of their work makes them dead serious when it's Game On.

A visit from your local FBI officer may be a sobering and life-changing event even for the very dumb, and it is cheaper than a full-blown investigation into something like that Oklahoma building from a few years back, so may indeed be friendly, no quotes needed.

Oh, you sweet summer child. You think CIA adheres to the terms of its charter? In the "rules have changed" future? NSA doesn't but CIA does? A group of spooks trained and in possession of the resources to conceal their identities, actions and anything that could lead to the uncovering of same?

Here's a hint: They do what they think is necessary. And for anything that looks like it might end up in front of a Senate subcommittee or otherwise embarrass the seventh floor at Langley ... there are always 'contractors.'

Many years ago, my Dad, a Ranger at a National Historic Site in a small Midwest town, helped the Secret Service prep for a Presidential visit. The Secret Service had sent an advance team out to coordinate plans with local law enforcement. One of the questions they asked was if he knew of any locals who might want to cause trouble. They told him what they normally did was send an agent to that person's home shortly before the visit, and the agent would "encourage" the person to come for a little chat. They'd then just drive around for an amount of time equal to the Presidential visit, the drop the person back home and thank them for their time.

While he didn't have any names to offer them, the town cop, who was a huge jerk, apparently had a list.
