Pants full of macaroni!!: You guys are missing the real point here - those '50s style housedresses are coming back into fashion!

Late to the party, but have you never heard of vintage repro? That's been a thing for a long time.

runwiz: So why does the family feel the need to be armed at their own backyard BBQ?  Is there something missing from this picture? What kind of neighborhood do they live in?

They just lurve their guns way too much, that's all.

This looks like some Winston Smith art for the Dead Kennedys

iheartscotch: I originally only saw the Enfield and was like...ok...I guess the mother in that scenario  was target shooting...I guess that's fine, she's got excellent trigger discipline. Then I saw the rest of the guns.

Why would you give 2 children 2 full sized hand guns? That makes no sense. Maybe a Ruger target pistol but a full sized hand gun? And why does the dog have a hand gun?

/ I feel like that picture is satire

No no no. You don't give children pistols and rifles. Their small hands make these weapons inefficient. Crew served weapons are stationary and teach teamwork.

wandero: In the grand spirit of American right-wingers not knowing when something is mocking them, this is the cover art for a satirical PlayStation VR game from an Australian studio called The American Dream.

Hickory-smoked: The posted image is from a satirical videogame mocking America's obsessive gun culture.

Practically the same thing happened in 2013 when a tea-party group on Facebook posted deliberately dystopian art from Bioshock Infinite.

Proving once again, there is no ironic parody of Right-Wing Authoritarianism that some significant number of them will not take as sincere.

The National Liberty Federation: an amazing group with one American Indian, so we got that going for us.

You do not want a gun near heat. A firefighter in my area got shot in the stomach and almost died, because a gun discharged in the fire he was fighting. The gun safety is all sorts of wrong in that image. My dad wouldn't let me touch a gun until I started hunter safety. I have no idea how this image sticks it to the libs. I know I shouldn't think that deep into this, but this is really farking my brain with logic. More so than usual.

It's coverart of a PS VR game, "The American Dream".

The game description:

"Samurai Punk presents The American Dream, a satirical virtual reality trip to a 'brighter future' where your everyday needs are solved with guns. It is the 1950's and a group of leading gun manufacturers have constructed a vast complex to guide the American Patriot towards a better and richer life. With Buddy Washington, the talking dog as your guide, you'll get to experience what it is like to live all aspects of your life with guns."

That explains a lot, and thanks for explaining to me. Now I have a bunch of new questions, that I am not going to either bother to ask, because this is stupid.

Not to mention that box of ammo is currently worth more than a kilo of cocaine

No shiat.  Apparently the local Cabela's has fistfights in the parking lot when their weekly ammo shipment comes in.  I shoot trap and I have one more week of shells then...I don't know.  Season might be over two weeks in just because morans think there is a civil war coming.

Do you reload your own? I know the current shortage is a supply chain and panic buying situation, but does it also affect reloading supplies?

Went trap and sporting clay shooting a few years ago for a work outing. It was a lot of fun and would do it more, but I don't have a shotgun, and I could see it becoming a very expensive habit.

yeah my late father in law and I used to sit up late the night before and reload shells to go skeet and trap shooting. good times.

Dude... There is a scene where elementary school kids are lying prone shooting targets singing jingles like "In the head and not the chest, headshots are the very best" and I don't think that's even in the top 50 for memorable craziness.

ha ha ha, that scene was awesome! started watching last night, paused when I started to fall asleep near the end. I should get some breffist and finish the rest of it...

there is so much horrifically twisted surreal greatness in that film, I am very glad you mentioned about it, tyty.

also it was amusing to see faces such as carrie anne moss and dylan baker.

George Orwell got it slightly wrong though. Instead of Big Brother, it should have been The Apprentice.

That movie is loaded with cameo's you wouldn't expect... like Fido is Billy farking Connolly for crying out loud. When it was a new release, we stumbled upon it at Block Buster, before no longer being able to find Block Busters to stumble upon. That may have been our last true gem unearthed in a rental store.

Reloading supplies are scarce too. Only super expensive brass and highly specialized powders are available. No primers either.

Thing I'm having a hard time believing is that there is zippo .30-06 anywhere.
