OlderGuy: WalkingSedgwick: Gyrfalcon: How does the color of the citizens affect the age of the infrastructure?

It seems to have a clear impact on the willingness of governments to replace aging infrastructure.

Might have more to do with money available.. or not... just sayin'...

All jokes and snark aside, the race of the poor people living atop 100-year old pipes is irrelevant. It will cost the same amount of money to replace them, and the same archaic policies put them there and kept them there to begin with.

This is just pure governmental neglect, coupled with social indifference. Don't pretend that a POOR white neighborhood would have had its pipes replaced by now; the operative adjective here is poor, not white.

The difference is that white people would blame the blacks for nonexistent welfare taking money away from fixing the pipes, that's all.

Why post this on Main Tab, where 3/4 of this site's white nationalists hang out and can barely control themselves from typing "NNNNNNNI**ERRRR!@!!"...?

WalkingSedgwick: Magnanimous_J: Broke ass, majority white Texan town loses power (and freezing pipes) for days, leading to deaths: Look at these farking morons! You deserve all of this because of the way you vote! You stay there!

Broke ass, majority black down suffers failing infrastructure: Isn't it horrible how racism did this?

False equivalence.

Broke-ass white Texans almost certainly support the policies that caused them to lose power and voted for the politicians who enacted said policies.

Broke-ass non-white towns, if their votes were counted at all, almost certainly did not vote for the politicians who caused this.

White Republican voters who die of hypothermia in their own houses are abusers who got what they asked for and deserve. People who did not vote Republican and suffered at the hands of Republicans are, instead, victims.

Jesus H Christ, you're human garbage.

twocent: Mellotiger: Say what you will but I guarantee you Mayor Lumumba is doing all he can for his city.

Jackson is a Democratic city, and Lumumba ran and won as a radical progressive activist. The entrenched powers would have tried to crush the city no matter what color the guy was.  Mississippi is what Gaslit Nation calls a "hostage state".

He figured it out. Now all the black people know why they can never find their car keys.

Perhaps.

If the opportunity should arise, please resist your wholly-understandable and justified desire to commit suicide, and instead consider making a commitment to not acting as a vile racist nazi would act.

How much have we blown on Covid relief in the past year, 5 trillion or so? How about we redirect some of that where it will do some actual long-term good and not disappear, like rebuilding decaying infrastructure?

brantgoose: So they are not that much worse-off than before. Their water was probably toxic to start with, and has only become more so when giant multinationals put their nuclear power plants, the Secretly dumped Hazardous Material, and their garbage dumps right next the poorest of the poor.

Can you say Superfund? Just another way being poor is very expensive. I might add the police and the military. Neither of those is for "People Like Us". They are what stands between People Like Us and the poors and muddled classes.

HI!

I've worked Grand Gulf multiple times as radiation safety AND I've worked in radioactive waste, specifically the disposal of radioactive waste along with some hazmat waste!

Would you like all the ways you're an uninformed, misinformed twit list alphabetically or just in the general order they annoy the piss out of me? Because I guarantee you bro, I know more about the processing and handling and disposal of radioactive waste than you do!

Except it's happening in majority-Black areas. Of course you're blind to systemic racism, though, you're a comfortable white moderate. I hope you try to do better than this some day.

Sure, if you don't understand how state-wide financing differs from local financing, which can divert tax money from poor towns to wealthier ones.

No?
Well, enjoy walking out to your outhouse

Did you know that voter supression is an actual real thing?

Especially in Mississippi where the most violent & deadly state-sponsored torture was used on people who tried to vote while black during the 1960s.  What happened to Fannie Lou Hamer when she attempted to register to vote?

Do you think that Mississippi would elect a senator like Cindy-Hyde-I-like-public-hangings-Smith without voter supression?
