Please don't give them any ideas.  Texas seems to be trying really, really hard to become a libertarian paradise, and all the tragedy that comes along with it.

Let's put this in terms that even Texans might understand...

Government action is like a NASCAR pace car. Yes, you can go all out most of the time. But occasionally, other things take precedence like giving workers time to rescue injured drivers and wrecked cars.

You wouldn't pit the pace car and give the green flag with workers still on the track, would you? Well, that's what Texas' governor just did.

As with Mississippi, the legislation to legalize the assassination of Republican Legislators seems exciting to look forward to.

Probably a longish wait, however.

Sometimes I wonder if the conservative mindset is such because they're too chickenshiat to stick their necks out and take a stand on something that would improve our lives going forward.

Their entire goal is to funnel resources to the wealthy, prevent uprising from the other classes and keep the status quo.

if you say so, "governor", since you say so forcefully and emphatically that we don't need "government" then WE DON'T NEED YOU.

I thought we learned the hard way that Texas got it wrong not wanting the gubmint to be involved in their lives.

Small sample size in Tarrant county, it would appear people are still wearing masks. Wife is mental health counselor in private practice. She has some patients that are anti mask. She has too many clients any way. I am encouraging her to drop them. Go be crazy somewhere else.

This is like the 50th thread where a bunch of unrelated parties are crying about a politician letting people make their own decisions. it's tiring, it's just a circle jerk of mask nazis.

we can wait as long as you want, as long as you promise to tell everyone you're wrong when the case statistics are within spitting distance of states with lockdowns and mask mandates.

it's been a year, the statistics don't lie. quit trying to be a morally superior karen over a strategy that's clearly ineffective.

All you anti maskers can go catch this thing, since it's obvious that trying to protect a population from an easily caught contagious lung disease is cultural Marxism.

And its going to be another year.

I'll be happy to come back and admit it if im wrong... since im not a conservative, my worldview doesnt depend on personal infallibility.

I dont imagine itll play out that way & of course you'll be too cowardly to admit that you were wrong.

I listened to some Hannity just a bit ago. These people are complete sacks of shiat. "No taxes" one minute, "donate to make homes for our injured heroes" the next. THAT'S WHAT TAXES ARE FOR YOU STUPID GRIFTING ASSHOLE.

And slamming Biden's covid relief. Gosh, it's too bad YOU DIDN"T HAVE A YEAR TO PREVENT THE NEED FOR IT.. or THAT YOUR STUPID PARTY OF SELFISH FOOTBALL ASSHOLES  DID NOTHING TO HELP FOR A YEAR.

And he complains about red-state money going to blue-liberal city people. fark you. You know it's the opposite. Always has been.

As far as I'm concerned, every conservative can farking starve.

Now every Starbucks, school district and other organization get to create a patchwork quilt of compliance.

Fun.

This is actually the perfect point of having a government. It treats everyone equally and every one knows what to do and why to do it.

If people that live in a town of 300 people choose mot to enforce so what but those of us in a city of 4,000,000 it was really nice to have to avoid the millions of questions.

We would also like government to make sure we have power to keep lights on and water running out of our faucets, apparently we also have to say that now

You have to be a real moron to believe that people will act responsibly enough on their own not to screw everything up. All you have to do is go to any grocery store or Walmart parking lot and count the shopping carts left out to realize this. Observe the trash on the side of the road. There are too many selfish assholes out there. If people could be relied upon to do the responsible thing, we wouldn't need drunk driving laws.
